The Nigeria Premier League 2020/2021 Season was cleared to return after the league management company checked through all available conditions that must be met before teams in the domestic scene would to action.
The 2019/20 season was brought to an abrupt end after the league management company concluded it was unsafe to resumption football activities during the lockdown as a result of the coronavirus pandemic which brought the country’s economy to a standstill at some point.
The 2020/21 season is the 50th since the inception of a national league in Nigeria and the 31st since the rebranding.
When will the Nigeria Premier League season start? The season will run from December 2020 6, 2020.
The LMC, however, used the point per game system to determine the winner of the 2019/2020 season.
Plateau United were crowned champions of the league while Enyimba, Rivers United and Kano Pillars took the other remaining continental places.
Nigeria Premier League Teams for the 2020/21 season
Since there was no relegation from the division, the 20 teams will be the ones to participate in the new season. No single team was promoted from the Nigerian national league.
Teams like Heartland, Wikki Tourist, Adamawa United and Jigawa Golden Stars set to have another taste of top-flight football once again after relegation scare.

1. Abia Warriors FC

2. Adamawa United FC
Adamawa United used to be in the Nigerian National League before they gained promotion to the country’s elite division.
Adamawa United is based in the city of Yola, South Eastern region of Nigeria. The play at the Pantami Stadium.
3. Akwa United
Regarded as the football club with one of the best football stadium in Nigeria, Akwa United has been one of the best football clubs within the South-South region of Nigeria after Rivers United although Dakkada formerly Akwa Starlets have been a major treat.
The club is situated in Uyo. They play at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium also known as the “Nest of Champions”.
Dakka formerly known as Akwa Starlets is one of the fastest-growing football clubs in Nigeria in this era.
The club appears to be at the same level as sister club Akwa United since their promotion to the NPFL.

5. Enugu Rangers
Enugu Rangers is one of the oldest football clubs in Nigeria and the most traditional side in the country.
Their home Stadium known as the cathedral is there hunting grown where visiting teams leave with nothing.
The club is based in Enugu, the capital of Enugu State in Eastern Nigeria. They play at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium ( The Cathedral).
They are one of the most successful football clubs in Nigeria with 7 titles behind Enyimba with 8.

The Aba based club in Abia State remains the only Nigerian club to win the CAF Champions League twice. They won it back to back.

Heartland Football Club is another traditional club in Nigeria formerly known as Spartans or Iwuanyanwu Nationale FC.
They play at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. But currently play at the Okigwe Stadium in Owerri, Imo State.
8. FC Ifeanyi Ubah
FC Ifeanyi Ubah owned by Billionaire and Capital Oil boss Ifeanyi Ubah is a football club based in the Anambra State of Nigeria.
The football club also has an affiliation with English Premier League club West Ham United.
Based in Nnewi City, they play at the Ifeanyi Ubah FC International Stadium.
9. Jigawa Golden Stars
Jigawa Golden Stars from Jigawa State is one of the newly promoted clubs in the Nigerian Professional Football League. Based in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, they play their matches at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Kano Pillars is another historic site in the Nigerian league. They have the highest matchday attendance in the country. The stands are full of every single matchday.

Based in Lagos, MFM FC came to limelight same season after gaining promotion to the top flight. They’ve represented Nigeria at the continental level.
Owned by MFM Church, the club made history by winning the world church championship in Goa India.
They play at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
15. Nasarawa United
Nasarawa United used to be a major force in The NPFL. But in recent times, the club has failed to produced decent results in the division.
They play at the Lafia Township Stadium in Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa State.
16. Plateau United
Plateau United is the next big thing to watch out for when it comes to Nigerian football.
The club had been consistent in recent years and is gradually becoming the new Kano Pillars I Nigeria with a huge fans base in the city of Jos.

17. Rivers United
Rivers United remain one of the most dangerous teams in the NPFL. Based in the city of Portharcourt, the club plays all it’s home games at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium formerly Liberation Stadium.

Based in Warri Delta State, the club play it matches at the Warri Township Stadium.
20. Wikki Tourist
Based in Bauchi, the club play at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
