Yes, the Magpies are back! Thanks to a brilliant outing, Newcastle United will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Eddie Howe has positioned the club as one of the contenders for European football for the first time since the 2011/12 season. As the players heads for the off-season break, we’ve put together the club’s engagement for the pre-season, which begins in July.

Eddie Howe’s men will face some familiar foes in the summer tour of the US.

Here are Newcastle United Pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2023/2024 football season;

Rangers vs Newcastle United

Date: July 18th, 2023

Venue: Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow, Scotland

Competition Type: Friendlies (Testimonial for Allan McGregor)

Newcastle United will tackle Scottish Premiership side Rangers at the start of the warm-up series in the summer. The Magpies and the Gers will face off at the 50,817 (all-seated) Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ibrox is one of the biggest football stadiums in the UK. It is home to Rangers FC.

According to Coming Home Newcastle, the friendly match is a testimonial in honour of long-time Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor. It would be the first test match for Eddie Howe and his players.

Newcastle United vs Aston Villa

Date: July 23rd or 24th

Venue: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Competition Type: Friendlies (Relevant Sports Group Tournament 2023)

Eddie Howe’s side heads to the tour of North America, where they’ll play in Mexico and the United States.

Relevant Sports Group organized the friendly match against Aston Villa.

It would be an important test for the Magpies due to Villa’s recent form in the English Premier League under the guidance of Unai Emery. The previous meeting ended 3-0 in favour of the Villans.

Aston Villa qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League next season after finishing seventh last season.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea

Date: July 26/27, 2023

Venue: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia.

Eddie Howe’s men will face another familiar face in Chelsea FC as part of the tour of the United States. The squad could be in a rotation as the manager expects to make changes following the game against Villa.

Chelsea endured a troubled season in which they finished 12th in the Premier League table.

The Magpies were forced to drop points at Stamford Bridge the last time the pair met on the 28th of May as Anthony Gordon’s strike nine minutes after kickoff was canceled by an own goal by Kieran Trippier.

The match will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The multi-purpose stadium has a seating capacity 42,500 for soccer matches and is home to NFL side Atlanta Falcons and MLS club Atlanta United.

Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Date: July 28 or 29th, 2023

Venue: Red Bull Arena

The Magpies will wrap up their tour of the United States with a final test match against Premier League side Brighton who were one of the sensations of the English top flight last season.

Led by Italian tactician Roberto De Zerbi, The Seagulls finished 6th on the league table and qualified for the UEFA Europa League next season.

The pair will play the test match at the Red Bull Arena, which has a capacity of 25,000 and serves as the home ground for MLS side New York Red Bulls and NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League.

The previous meeting between the two sides on May 18th ended in a 4-1 scoreline in favour of the Magpie at St. James’ Park.
