Newcastle to rival Barcelona for Ruben Neves in the summer transfer window 2023
Newcastle United aims to set a high standard in the Premier League from the second season since the takeover by the Public Investment Fund. The magpies are set to rival Barcelona for Ruben Neves in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder ends his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2023 and could be available for free. He is the main objective of Barcelona president Joan Laporta and head coach Xavi Hernandez.
According to Fichajes, Xavi Hernandez has notified Barcelona’s top hierarchy of the need to have a top-level midfielder on the team. At least, the Spaniard has shown to be reliable with his tactics despite the club’s elimination from the Champions League group stages.

Xavi is looking at the possibility of creating a squad rotation along with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Gavi. However, Newcastle United’s interest could make it difficult for Barcelona to achieve this objective.
Newcastle United has a big project in hand in the Premier League, the Magpies eye the services of Ruben Neves who’s been one of the backbones of Wolves in the English top flight.
Another thing Barcelona could have difficult times with is the economic situation at the club. But that being said, Joan Laporta would try to secure the signing of Ruben Neves amid interest from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
