Competition: MLS Regular Season 2022
A tough draw against Portland Timbers marked an impressive start to the 2022 MLS season for New England Revolution. Last season MLS Supporters Shield winners were awarded three goals and three points after FC Cavali failed to honour the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 matches.
The Revs could not hold on to their advantage after leading the game twice to hold out a draw on the road. Brandon Bye opened the scoring for the visiting side, and Sebastian Lletget doubled the edge in the second.
FC Dallas was held to a draw at home on an opening day against visiting Toronto FC, who looked to improve their dismal performance last season.

Match Preview and Prediction
Defensive issues surrounding the New England Revolution prevented the team from securing maximum points on the road against the lost season’s MLS Cup runner up Portland Timbers.
Brandon Bye and Sebastian Lletget’s goals for the Revs were cancelled twice by the host. Head coach Bruce Arena’s 4 – 1 – 2 – 1 – 2 worked well in the game, but the lapses at the back affected his overall gameplay.
Bou and Buksa fired blank. Substitute Jozy Altidore did have his chances but failed to convert them. Bruce Arena is expected to make some changes ahead of the visit of FC Dallas.
Visitors FC Dallas were held by FC Toronto last weekend. The second best MLS Cup winners opened the scoring through Jader Obrian after an impressive link-up play by Arriola and Pomykal.
The Video Assistant Referee disallowed a goal by Ferreira for an offside call, spelling a frustrating start to the league campaign for New England Revolution.
The Revs and Dallas, amid draws in their opening fixtures, are expected to go all out for a win.
