SV Werder Bremen has permitted star striker Milot Rashica to remain on the sidelines for two weeks after a failed move to Aston Villa, RB Leipzig and deadline day mishap with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Kosovo national team star was given the go-ahead by his club’s top hierarchy as a means to help ease up the pressure after failed attempts to leave the club for a bigger club.
The decision from the club takes effect from this week. What this means, he will not be part of the first team training session this week as well as the next two weeks.
The 24-year old was expected to finalise a deal with Bayer Leverkusen on Monday. But the two clubs could not make an agreement on time before the window in Germany came to a close.
Speaking during a press conference, Werder Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann expressed his disappointment on Rashica’s failed to move.
“Of course he was disappointed and had to deal with it. This experience is not nice to him. It might take a while for him to process it.” said Frank as cited by Fussball Transfers.
The head coach of the club Florian Kohfeldt also gave the reason for the compulsory break given to Rashica.
“The last few days have not been easy for Milot, there has been a lot of back and forth. That is why we decided to give him the week off so that he can come up with other thoughts and then be able to focus fully on Werder again,” via Weser-Kurier, as cited by Fussball Transfers.
