1. FIFA World Cup
Lionel Messi, against all odds, helped his country to lift the FIFA World Cup for the first time in his career and the third time in the history of the country in the tournament.
Messi’s first shot at the title was in the 2014 final in Brazil, where he finished runners-up against Germany. The victory with La Albiceleste now ranks him among the country’s greats.
2. Copa America
After several attempts at lifting the continental trophy, Lionel Messi finally won the Copa America in 2021 with Argentina at the finals held in Brazil. It was his first major trophy at the international level after lifting the Olympic Gold and the U20 Youth Championship.
3. Olympic Gold medal
Lionel Messi won the Olympic Gold medal with the Argentine U23 set up at the football finals in Beijing in 2008. The final was against Nigeria, ending in a 1-0 scoreline.

4. CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions (Finalissima)
The CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions or Finalissima was returned in 2022. The final was between South American champions Argentina and Italy, champions of Europe.
Messi produced a five-star performance and helped Argentina lift the trophy for the first time, which became his second major trophy at the international level.
5. FIFA U-20 World Cup
Lionel Messi’s first international trophy was the FIFA U-20 World Cup World Youth Championship in 2005 in the Netherlands. He has also been named the tournament Golden Boot winner after emerging top scorer with six goals and the Golden Ball by FIFA.
