McAllister red card against Bournemouth, how did it happen?
The match at Anfield started shockingly for Liverpool fans, as Semenho gave Bournemouth the lead in the third minute. The Reds struggled for the next 25 minutes when Diaz finally scored.
Led by an impeccable attacking trident, Diaz-Salah-Jota, Jurgen Klopp’s team easily turned the situation in their favor and reached a convincing celebration – 3:1 (2:1).
All three of the Reds’ attackers were among the scorers, and the fact that Alexis McAllister received a straight red card after a careless play in the 58th minute did not help the guests either. Not only did Bournemouth fail to establish themselves on the pitch after that, they had to take the ball out of their net just four minutes later.
Luis Dias scored the second goal of the season in the 28th minute when he reacted perfectly after a timely pass, lifted the ball to himself on a volley, and put the ball behind the helpless Neto.
The complete turnaround happened eight minutes later when the Brazilian goalkeeper first saved Mohamed Salah’s shot from the penalty spot. Still, he had no solution for the ball that bounced straight to the Egyptian’s foot.
The red card that McAllister received in the 58th minute was quite debatable, considering that the Argentinean and Ryan Christie went at the ball with an open sole at the same moment. Still, it was estimated that Liverpool’s ten made foul to be sent off.
Just four minutes later, Diogo Jota solved everything in his style. This was the first win for Liverpool this season in the league and the first defeat for Bournemouth after both teams played draw in their matches in the previous round. In the 3rd round, Liverpool will face Newcastle as a visitor, while Bournemouth will welcome Tottenham.
Liverpool’s players joined city rivals Everton on Saturday before the game to pay tribute to the Caramel’s fan who tragically lost his life on Monday. Liverpool fans gave respect in their way.
Twenty-six-year-old Michael Jones died on the construction site of Everton’s new stadium on Monday, and this Saturday, the teams of both clubs paid tribute to the young man. Led by Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool first team laid flowers on Bramall Moor on Saturday morning with a condolence message on behalf of everyone from the “red side” of the city.
