Markus Gisdol sidelines Emmanuel Dennis as cologne take on Mainz 05April 11, 2021
Nigerian star Emmanuel Dennis has been sidelined by Coach of FC Koln Markus Gisdol ahead of the Bundesliga matchday 28 clashes.
This was a result of an act of indiscipline on the part of Emmanuel Dennis, who failed to show up at the team hotel on Saturday as directed by the coach.
Before the start of the 2020/2021 Bundesliga season, Club Brugge had signed an agreement with the bundle side to allow Dennis to move to the side for the rest of the season.
The one red hot attacker who made Club Brugge causes a big upset for Real Madrid three years ago in the UEFA Champions League group stages was no longer selected for the important.
Why Dennis failed to show up at the team hotel
No reason yet has been made public on the part of the player as to why he could not make it to the team base ahead of the clash with Mainz 05.
The versatile attacker was not among the 20 selected players by Markus Gisdol for the all-important game of the matchday according to Fussball Transfers.
Emmanuel Dennis stats this season so far
Before moving to Koln, he made over nine appearances without having a ball at the back of the net, which insisted the top hierarchy at the Belgian club find a place he can rebuild his career in a short time.
In Koln, he has eight appearances and he is yet to register a goal in the Bundesliga, although he netted once in the DFB Pokal.
Over four seasons with Club Brugge, Emmanuel Dennis has contributed a lot towards the development of the team. However, this year appears to be a low point in his career.
The highest goal he’d scored for Club Brugge since moving to the club from Zorya U21 in 2017 was a total of seven goals, which was his first season.
His overall teamwork is the reason he’s been a core part of the Belgian side.
Contributions to FC Koln in the Bundesliga this season
It appears to be a hard time for the 23-year old Nigerian is having turbulent since making that surprise move from Zorya U21 in 2017.
Yet to register a goal in German Bundesliga is also another issue although coach Markus Gisdol has kept faith in him even though he is unable to find the back of the net.
Koln is currently 17th on the league table, meaning an automatic relegation for them if they fail to pull through the storm.
Mainz 05 sit 16th on the log, and losing to Cologne would see them move further down to the relegation spot.
Would there be another opportunity for Emmanuel Dennis at FC Koln?
Everyone is important to us, this has been the words from the coach lately. However, acts of indiscipline are usually not tolerated in any team.
For the Nigerian, there still an opportunity for him to correct his wrongs, helping the club to avoid possible relegation from the Bundesliga at the end of the current season.
