Marcus Rashford new celebration – what’s the meaning?
Marcus Rashford has been on fire this season. The forward is having a dream time in front of goal, scoring 25 goals this season, including one in the Carabao Cup final, making him among the most in-form players in world football.
After admitting mental health issues during the previous season, the 25-year-old has rediscovered his form under manager Erik ten Hag.
Rashford’s new celebration explained
Marcus Rashford has recently stood still and placed his index finger at his temple when he celebrates goals. This is reportedly a sign of the player’s improvement in terms of his mental health.
Rashford acknowledged in October that he had experienced mental health issues throughout the 21/22 season.

“I was struggling at times with more mental things. It wasn’t really my own performance but other things off the pitch. That’s the biggest difference from last season.”
“Too often last season, I wasn’t in the right headspace for games. I wasn’t surprised by some of the stuff that was happening,” Rashford told Sky Sports.
After scoring the winning goal in the Premier League game at Wolves on December 31, Rashford debuted his unique celebration. He was forced to sit out the first half of the match for arriving late to a team meeting, but he later entered the game as a replacement and scored the game’s lone goal.
