Marcel Halstenberg has revealed talks were held regarding his contract extension with RB Leipzig amid uncertainties surrounding his future with the club.
Earlier, the 30-year old’s future with the Saxony based club was in doubt following the club’s failure to submit a proposal for an extension with the player.
In an interview with German Newspaper ‘Kicker’ as cited by FussballTransfers, Halstenberg confirmed the talks with the club and his representatives.
“The first casual discussions sounded promising and like backing.” He told Kicker.
The potential move to Borussia Dortmund earlier on did not materialize due to an injury.
“Of course, you want to wait and see what I can do first. When I’m back on the field, real conversations will follow. I believe that a solution will then be found and that I can have a future in Leipzig. ” He added.
