Man City vs Bayern Munich: Haaland could debut for the Cityzens
Man City’s new boy Erling Haaland could play his debut game for the Cityzens after missing out on the action in the club’s first preseason game with Club America.
Haaland, who decided to join the Premier League club, is expected to be one of the pivots of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the new season. However, no reason was made public after missing out on the action in the previous game.
Three days ago, Haaland was part of the training session and found the back of the net.
On June 13th Man City announced the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2027. The 22-year-old, whose father also played for the Manchester-based club, expressed delight and is willing to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Will Haaland play against Bayern Munich?
Pep Guardiola had confirmed Erling Haaland could feature for Man City against Bayern Munich. The Norwegian striker is fit and would be available for selection against the Bundesliga giants.
Julian Álvarez made his Manchester City debut against Club America. The Argentine had already been tipped to form a perfect duo if Pep Guardiola decided to play two-man front line.
Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund in 2020, scoring 67 Bundesliga goals in 62 league appearances. He was part of the squad that won the 2020-21 DFB-POKAL.
Man City vs Bayern Munich – what City fans should expect
The first test game with Club America was challenging but revealed what must be done to ensure the solidity of the entire squad. Captain Kevin De Bruyne scored twice, while Kalvin Phillips, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Julian Álvarez were also impressed.
Against Bayern Munich, the Cityzens have a lot to do, especially converting opportunities as they come. Bayern Munich has made significant changes to their squads, like the signing of Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt.
The Bavarians edged past DC United and are well motivated to inflict a heavy blow which Pep Guardiola must avoid to keep the team spirit high amidst the Community Shield tie with Liverpool FC next week.
Man City fans should expect beautiful football and the likely introduction of Erling Haaland against Bayern Munich. Also, the likes of Kalvin Phillips could be given yet another opportunity to shine, while Kevin De Bruyne would continue with his team leadership.
