Julio Maldini has expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of Asensio after Real Madrid shock loss to Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday night.
Despite getting on the score sheet first through Karim Benzema’s strike, the Los Merengues conceded three penalties which were perfectly converted by Soler.
Maldini on Asensio: “Didn’t like Asensio. You don’t have to individualize but the Mallorcan is not taking advantage of his opportunities and today they have had to change him.” said Maldini as published by Bernabeau Digital.
Fair victory for Valencia, but on the side of Real Madrid, it was another wasteful day and a missed opportunity to follow up with Real Sociedad at the top of the La Liga table amid Barcelona and Atletico Madrid slump.
Karim Benzema was right on hand to put the whites in front, but the home side had three penalties to count on as justified by the Video Assistant Referee.
Real Madrid missed Hazard in action due test confirmed to be coronavirus infection, leaving the in-form Belgian international out of the matchday squad after the club medical had instructed the former Chelsea hitman to self isolate.

Maldini also did not see anything wrong with the decisions from the Video Assistant Referee concerning the three penalties awarded to Real Madrid.
“Game with a lot of prominence from the VAR, which you know I like, although it always has room for improvement. Today’s three penalties are clear and I think the VAR has done justice.”
