The Major League Soccer 2021 season is the 26th since the commencement of the domestic campaign in the United States.
MLS teams has a very high reputation in world football due to a of well organized system allowing teams to have representatives at levels.
The league is the highest men’s Professional Soccer League in the United States subdivided into two groups of thirteen and fourteen teams respectively.
The Major League Soccer is made in two subdivisions. The Western Conference and the Eastern Conference.
The league is contested by clubs from the U.S and neighbouring Canada.
In Canada, the Major League Soccer is also regarded as top tier domestic competition, although the country also has a separate competition known as the Canadian Championship.
The league regarded as the second-best in North America behind the Mexican Liga MX and has continued to host some of the top professional footballers from Europe, Africa, and Latin American countries.
The MLS unlike other top European leagues does not operate with the system of promotion and relegation.
Rather, it runs on a franchise league where every club is a stakeholder in the league with representatives at the board of directors.
It is also regarded as one of the strongest and best Soccer league in the world as a result of it’s competitive nature.
The league is subdivided into two groups namely the Eastern Conference and Western Conference as said earlier.
MLS schedule, dates
The regular season will commence on the 17th or April 2021 through the 7th of November.
The MLS Cup playoffs will then kickstart from November 19th to December 11.
Major League Soccer teams in 2021 (MLS)
1. New England Revolution
As part of the Eastern Conference, the club is one of the top ten teams and have played since the early years of the league.
The team has won one US Open Cup and represented North America in the FIFA Club World Cup.
New England Revolution is one of the top teams to watch out when the new season kickoffs.
2. DC United
DC United was one of the most successful teams in the early years of the franchise league is still considered one of the most successful in the history of the league.
Based in Washington DC, the club was established in 1994. It prides itself as the capital city club.
The club won four MLS Cups, four Supporters Shield, three US Open Cups and a CONCACAF Champions League title.
They were a household name when it comes to Major League Soccer in the early years of the league.
Right now, they are still one of the respected sides in the professional division.
The early years of the competition clearly was owned by DC. But the current competition has made it hard for them to easily dominate as it where before.
3. Toronto FC
Toronto Football Club is a Canadian club based competing in the Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference.
The club joined the MLS in 2007 as an expansion team and was the first Canadian-based franchise in the league.
It is one of the few Canadian clubs in the division.
4. New York Red Bulls
One of the oldest members of the division, New York Red Bulls play in Eastern Conference established in 1994.
The team has won three Supporters Shield.
New York Red Bulls is part of the Red Bull Football Family.
5. Columbus Crew
Columbus Crew is regarded as one of the top ten clubs in the league. Founded in 1994, the club won several laurels since it’s inception.

6. Chicago Fire
Chicago Fire is a franchise Soccer team and a member of the MLS. Considered one of the most successful clubs in the United States.
Based in Chicago, Illinois, the club has won one MLS in 1998, Supporters Shield in 2003 with four US Open Cup in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
They play at the Soldier Field stadium.
7. Club de Foot Montreal
Club de Foot Montréal is a professional soccer club as one of the founding members of the MLS Eastern Conference
The club’s major achievement was finishing as Runners up during the 2014–15 CONCACAF Champions League.
8. Philadelphia Union
The Eastern Conference side was established in 2008 and started playing in the league. 2010.
The Union are the reigning Cup holders of the Supporters Shield at the end of the 2020 season.
9. Orlando City
Orlando City is a franchise professional soccer club from the city of Orlando.
They play at the Exploria Stadium.
10. New York City
New York City FC is a professional soccer club that plays in the Eastern Conference founded in 2013 and owned by City Football Group and Yankee Global Enterprises.
The club is the twentieth expansion team and is currently one of the most valuable sides in the division.
The team is yet to win a major trophy. Hopefully, this could be a season for change as they continue their search for a major trophy.
The new York City FC hasn’t gotten the much needed attention as compared to Manchester City, their sister club in the Premier League.
Despite being listed as one of the most valuable teams the league, the club is still yet to turn up as a major force.
11. FC Cincinnati
FC Cincinnati is a franchise Soccer team in the MLS and was awarded a spot in the franchise league in 2018 as part of the expansion Franchise.

12. Atlanta United
Atlanta United is a professional soccer club from Atlanta Georgia in the United States competing in Major League Soccer.
Establish in 2014, the Atlanta based side plays in the Eastern Conference as one inducted into the MLS as part of the expansion in 2017.
The club is regarded as one of the sides with the highest fanbase when it comes to United States club Soccer competitions.
They won the MLS Cup in 2018, the US Open Cup in 2019 and Eastern Conference winners in 2018, making it a double in that year.
They are also the current Champions of the Campeones Cup, a competition played by Teams that won the MLS Cup and Liga MX Cup playoffs winner.
13. Nashville SC
Nashville Soccer Club started to play In the MLS in 2020 as a continuation of the team that used to play in the USL Championship before it’s move.
It’s first season was not at the highest level, but there’s more to come in 2021.
14. Inter Miami
Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami is a professional men’s soccer club established in 2018.

The club played its first season in the MLS in 2020.
Manchester United legend David Beckham is also one of the owners of the club.
Their first season wasn’t much convincing, but a lot is expected when the 2021 season commences in April.
Although one would say it was a terrible start for a club owned by a legend like David Beckham. However, the team is preparing well for their second season in the league.
With the kind of result seen in the previous season, lots of changes are expected to take place including some surprise new transfers.
There’s still room for improvement when the new season commences.
There were notable names linked with the club during the January transfer window, but no major signing was made by the club.

FC Dallas is a professional soccer club from Frisco, Texas that competes in the Major League Soccer as a franchise team.
The club has won two US Open Cup and single Supporters Shield in 2016. That year, they were ranked as the ninth-best club in the CONCACAF region
2. Houston Dynamos
Houston Dynamo Football Club
Is a member of the Western Conference and at BBVA Stadium in Houston Texas.
MLS Cup winners in 2006 and 2007, winning the US Open Cup in 2018.
3. Los Angeles Galaxy
Los Angeles Galaxy is one of the biggest and most popular clubs competing in the MLS.
The is known for its dealings in the market, signing some of the best players in Europe including former Real Madrid star David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
La Galaxy for short is one of the best MLS teams right now, they’ve won five MLS Cup between 5 2002, 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Four Supporters Shield.
The team has a rivalry in Los Angeles FC who was rebranded from defunct Chivas USA. They’re currently one of the teams to lookout for when the new season commences.
Arguably, Los Angeles Galaxy is one of the most successful clubs in the United States.
4. Real Salt Lake
The franchise team plays in the Western Conference after their induction into the league in 2005. They were Champions of the MLS Cup in 2009.
The club was Runners up of the CONCACAF Champions League in 2011.
Real Salt Lake used to be a major force in the division.
Salt Lake were also a major force then.
5. San Jose Earthquakes
San Jose Earthquakes is a professional soccer club based in San Jose and a member of the MLS Western Conference.
MLS Cup winners in 2001, 2003. Supporters’ Shield

They are also considered as one of the top MLS teams in history.
6. Colorado Rapids
Colorado Rapids is a soccer team competing in the MLS franchise from the Western Conference.
The club won it’s a first major trophy, the MLS Cup in 2010.
The Denver based team founded in 1995 has been outstanding and have gotten MLS Cup playoffs on several occasions.
7. Sporting Kansas City
Sporting KC, is a member of the Western Conference, initially played in the Eastern Conference.
They play at the Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas.
8. Seattle Sounders
Sounders is a professional soccer club from Seattle with two MLS Cup, a Supporters Shield with four US Open Cups.

They are yet to win the MLS Cup or the US Open Cup.

13. Austin FC
Austin FC is a soccer club that plays in the Major League Soccer, founded in 2018.
The 2021 MLS season will be the first season of Austin FC as a member of the Major League Soccer since it’s inception in 2018 as part of the league’s expansion plan.
Austin FC is based in Texas and will prosecute all their matches in the league at the Q2 stadium.
Major League Soccer format
The Major League Soccer runs a relegation and promotion free system which allows teams to remain in the division even though they finish bottom of the table.
The league is divided into two groups, the Western (13 teams) and Eastern Conference (14 teams).
The winner of the regular with the most points in the two conferences will be awarded the Supporters Shield and qualifies automatically for the quarter-finals of the MLS Cup playoffs.
The teams that finish between the second and seventh qualifies for the MLS Cup playoffs round of 16.

The Major League Soccer is a professional men’s soccer competition held in the United Sta from contested by teams fron the U.S and Canada.

The winners has been predominantly teams from the United States, compared to their counterparts from Canada.
Since the Canadians also regard the league as a top tier in their country of the outfit has become the number of competition for clubs in the country.
In the archive of the Leagues all time winners list, Los Angeles Galaxy is the most successful with over five titles in their trophy cabinet.
The league also awards another silverware called the MLS Supporters Shield, which is given to the team with most points accrued during the regular season matches.
However, the MLS Cup playoffs winners are awarded as Champions of the league for the season.
DC United won the first MLS Cup title in 1996, after beating the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final of the playoffs at the Foxboro Stadium, clinching the title the following year.
Total, the competition has produced over sixteen different winners with Los Angeles Galaxy and DC United as the most successful with five and four titles.

1. Los Angeles Galaxy – 5 Titles
Los Angeles Galaxy or LA Galaxy is a professional soccer team and the most successful in the MLS with over five Cup titles and four Supporters Shield. Galaxy also has two US titles.
Began thier first season in 1996, Galaxy won it’s first title in 2002 during the quick rise of the club.
It did not stop there, three years later was not a big deal but was more than enough to secure their second title in 2005. But this time, they had to wait for another six years before regulating their third title.
However, the rest came easy as LA Galaxy made it back to back wins before getting the position as the most successful during the thhas14 edition.
Galaxy have had several notable players in the past like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently regarded as one of the best players in world football and was a major drive for AC Milan after his return from LA Galaxy to help in the rebuilding of the club.

2. DC United – 4 Titles
DC United opened the tournament, beating Los Angeles Galaxy to lift the first edition of the MLS Cup final.
The club from Washington DC also won the competition preceding year before loosing out to Chicago Fire, but retuned to clinch the title once again a year later.
But DC United retuned stronger in 1999 to complete their third title. The fourth title came after a long wait for four years.
Since then, DC United have not been able to perform at the highest level, to the extent of challenging for the Cup.
The Capital City club have also won four MLS Supporters Shield with the recent coming in 2007.
They are regarded as one of the most successful teams in the early years of the league, winning almost all it’s Cup titles almost in the beginning.

Houston itsmo surprised may with it’s quick dominance of the league. Winning the double between 2006 and 2007.
Dynamo were in their best form at that time, leading to a quick double of the MLS Cup.
The franchise is a member of the Western Conference.
