Lukaku willing to lower salary in favour of Inter move
The stand by Romelu Lukaku is clear, he does not consider a return to Chelsea but instead considers leaving the club.
In recent days, the Belgian forward is said to have rejected a mammoth proposal for Saudi Arabia in an attempt to lure him to the Middle East, the destination where some of Europe’s biggest stars are currently playing.
The 30-year-old according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Fichajes) has declared his intentions not to return to Chelsea ahead of next season. It was also revealed he has chosen to be absent from training as the club begins preparation for their pre-season.
Chelsea is reportedly looking to get as high as €40 million in the sale of Romelu Lukaku in the summer, less than what they paid for when he joined Inter Milan in 2021.
Willing to lower his salary in favour of Inter Milan’s move
Due to the economic situation in Europe, some of the big sides are not willing to make high financial decisions and as such, may opt for alternatives.
And as one of the means to make it come true, the Belgian is willing to go extra time. Fichajes are reporting Lukaku is willing to lower his salary from 8.5 to 7.5 million euros per year.
Last season, he was arguably one of the best players for the Nerazzurri and perhaps it could be ideal to switch permanently.
