1. Ian Rush

Ian Rush is the leading Liverpool all time top scorer in history with 346 goals, a record which appears to be out of bounds for modern-day Liverpool players to beat.

The Welsh former Professional Footballer who played had three stints at the club includes a short loan at some point.

Ian Rush’s incredibly goal-scoring form helped Liverpool claim over 18 league titles in the old National First Division of England.

Ian Rush moved to Liverpool FC in 1980 and spent seven years with the club. During his first spell at the club which began in 1980, he was handed the No 7 shirt with high hopes.

Although he played most part his first season with the reserve team, he was eventually handed starting shirt with the first team.

Throughout his first stint at the club, ended as top scorer in some seasons or finished in the top half of the scorer’s chart.

He helped the club with league and FA Cup titles before switching to Série A giants Juventus.

His second spell at Liverpool quickly boosted the attack. This time, he started on a bright note by helping the club lift the FA Cup against Everton in a Merseyside derby.

Ian Rush was directly in love with the most important goals scored during the years he spent with the club.

Premier League – Throughout his relationship with Liverpool, Ian Rush helped the club win five National First Division now known as the Football League First Division or EFL Championship.

The Football League First Division served as the top tier until the English Premier League was formed following a breakaway.

FA Cup – Most importantly the FA, the Welshman enjoyed success with Liverpool in the FA including scoring in a thrilling final where Liverpool defeated Everton 3-2.

His efforts also led to Liverpool’s league and FA Cup double.

The Welshman won three English FA Cup titles.

League Cup – Liverpool won five EFL Cup with the help of goals from Ian Rush.

Nicknamed Rush, his goal-scoring abilities became crucial as the club continued with their dominating performance across all competitions in England.

With goals from Ian Rush and his teammates, Liverpool claimed the Football League Cup in three consecutive seasons.

UEFA Champions League – The Reds are currently regarded as England’s best team in Europe Competitions started in the early years of the competition.

Liverpool had already won two UEFA Champions League. Ian Rush helped the club lift another two Champions League titles in 1980–81 and 1983–84.

He famously found the back of the net during Liverpool’s massive win over Oulun Palloseura.

His eleven-year career with Liverpool ended with lots of trophies including the FA Cup, Football League First Division, etc.

Roger Hunt began his career with Croft Youth Club. He later switched to Liverpool.

Initially, he was the club leafing all time top scorer until Ian Rush overtook him at the top after a mixed relationship with the club saw him score over 346 goals for the club.

His relationship with the club began when it was still in the Secondary Division. He was part of the club that achieved promotion to the First Division.

In 1965, his impressive led Liverpool’s to surprise FA Cup triumph which was the club’s first-ever title since its establishment.

Hunt remains Liverpool greatest player of all time.

First Division – His goals contribution helped the Reds with two First Division titles.

Second Division – He was behind the team’s successful outing that led to the club’s promotion to the First Division.

FA Cup – Roger Hunt was involved in some of the goals that helped Liverpool claim its first-ever FA Cup title in 1964–65.

FA Charity Shield – His contributions also led to three FA Charity Shields.

3. Gordon Hodgson

Gordon Hodgson is the third all time Liverpool top scorer in history with 241.

Gordon Hodgson is interestingly a footballer as well as fast bowler. He began his career in his homeland, South Africa, with Benoni, then moving to, Rustenburg, Pretoria and Transvaal.

In 1925, he switched to Liverpool and began his Professional football career with the Merseyside club.

During his eleven-year career with the club, he scored 241 goals making him Liverpool all time leading scorer in third place.

Gordon was Credit as a team player who got to score as many goals as he could base on his unselfish style of play.

Most of his goals for the club were scored in the Football League First Division.

After he made his debut for Liverpool against Manchester City, he went on to register two goals in a thrilling encounter against Manchester United.

Billy Liddell was awarded Liverpool’s leading goalscorer in the league in eight out of nine seasons.

Began his youth career with Kingseat Juveniles, he moved to Liverpool FC where he spent most of his Professional football career winning the English First Division.

As a winger, he played different roles including as a striker, at the centre and inside forward. This made him one of the club’s most feared forward players.

He also influenced the team which results in the league triumph in 1946–47 came and FA Cup final defeat to London club Arsenal in 1949–50.

English First Division – In the 1946–47 season, Billy Liddell scored important goals that helped Liverpool claim the title.

5. Steven Gerrard

He was a key player throughout his stay at the club.

He spent the majority of his playing career at Liverpool and was part of the “Miracle of Istanbul” where Liverpool came back from a 3-0 defeat to beat AC Milan in the Champions League.

Premier League – Despite the huge success recorded, Liverpool failed to have a hand on the English Premier League after years of wait.

FA Cup – Liverpool enjoyed more cup success with Steven Gerrard contributions. The captain helped the club to lift the FA Cup twice in 2000–01 and 2005–06.

Recovering from injury during the 2000–01 season, he scored ten goals as he won his first FA Cup with Liverpool FC.

6. Robbie Fowler

Fowler was a product of the Liverpool FC football Academy where he was promoted to the senior team.

He spent nineteen seasons at Anfield and was one of the best goal-scoring strikers throughout his time with the club.

His breakthrough season began in the 1994–95 season, winning the League Cup.

In 2000–01, Robbie Fowler was part of the team that won the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

He also played in the UEFA Champions League final 2006–07 season which Liverpool lost in the end.

His top scorer’s award was accompanied by numerous titles, making him one of Liverpool’s greatest players of all time.

Premier League/ First Division – He won over six Premier League titles with the club as a player and this includes back to back wins in 1978–79 and 1979–80.

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s tenth all time leading scorer with 134 goals already.

The Egyptian footballer who began his career at Liverpool in 2017 has since established himself as one of the best players in the world.

Salah has won numerous titles since moving to the club including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

His performance has made him one of Liverpool’s greatest players in the 21st century alongside former club captain and current football manager Steven Gerrard.

Salah broke the scoring record and could be on his way up in future campaigns as long as he remains at the club.
