Ian Rush goal-scoring form appears to be out of reach as things stand currently. The Welshman’s goals helped the club win the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, etc.

 

Roger Hunt is the second all time Liverpool FC top scorer. Legendary captain Steven Gerrard sit fifth on the list with 186 goals.

 

 

1. Ian Rush

Goals: 346

Position: Forward

Nationality: Wales

Ian Rush is the leading Liverpool all time top scorer in history with 346 goals, a record which appears to be out of bounds for modern-day Liverpool players to beat.

 

The Welsh former Professional Footballer who played had three stints at the club includes a short loan at some point.

 

Ian Rush’s incredibly goal-scoring form helped Liverpool claim over 18 league titles in the old National First Division of England.

 

Ian Rush moved to Liverpool FC in 1980 and spent seven years with the club. During his first spell at the club which began in 1980, he was handed the No 7 shirt with high hopes.

 

Although he played most part his first season with the reserve team, he was eventually handed starting shirt with the first team.

 

Throughout his first stint at the club, ended as top scorer in some seasons or finished in the top half of the scorer’s chart.

 

He helped the club with league and FA Cup titles before switching to Série A giants Juventus.

 

His second spell at Liverpool quickly boosted the attack. This time, he started on a bright note by helping the club lift the FA Cup against Everton in a Merseyside derby.

 

Ian Rush was directly in love with the most important goals scored during the years he spent with the club.

 

Premier League – Throughout his relationship with Liverpool, Ian Rush helped the club win five National First Division now known as the Football League First Division or EFL Championship.

 

The Football League First Division served as the top tier until the English Premier League was formed following a breakaway.

 

FA Cup – Most importantly the FA, the Welshman enjoyed success with Liverpool in the FA including scoring in a thrilling final where Liverpool defeated Everton 3-2.

 

His efforts also led to Liverpool’s league and FA Cup double.

 

The Welshman won three English FA Cup titles.

 

League Cup – Liverpool won five EFL Cup with the help of goals from Ian Rush.

 

Nicknamed Rush, his goal-scoring abilities became crucial as the club continued with their dominating performance across all competitions in England.

 

With goals from Ian Rush and his teammates, Liverpool claimed the Football League Cup in three consecutive seasons.

 

UEFA Champions League – The Reds are currently regarded as England’s best team in Europe Competitions started in the early years of the competition.

 

Liverpool had already won two UEFA Champions League. Ian Rush helped the club lift another two Champions League titles in 1980–81 and 1983–84.

 

He famously found the back of the net during Liverpool’s massive win over Oulun Palloseura.

 

He scored few minutes after he was introduced into the game.

 

Ian Rush’s Liverpool career ended with major domestic as well as international trophies like the Champions League with the European Golden Boot award in 1984.

 

He was awarded Liverpool Top Goalscorer for eight football seasons in England which includes European competitions.

 

2. Roger Hunt

 

Goals: 285

Position: Forward

Nationality: England

Roger Hunt is the second FC all time top scorer with 285, which is approximately 65 goals short of Ian Rush’s all time top scorer status at Liverpool.

 

His eleven-year career with Liverpool ended with lots of trophies including the FA Cup, Football League First Division, etc.

 

Roger Hunt began his career with Croft Youth Club. He later switched to Liverpool.

 

Initially, he was the club leafing all time top scorer until Ian Rush overtook him at the top after a mixed relationship with the club saw him score over 346 goals for the club.

 

His relationship with the club began when it was still in the Secondary Division. He was part of the club that achieved promotion to the First Division.

 

In 1965, his impressive led Liverpool’s to surprise FA Cup triumph which was the club’s first-ever title since its establishment.

 

Hunt remains Liverpool greatest player of all time.

 

First Division – His goals contribution helped the Reds with two First Division titles.

 

Second Division – He was behind the team’s successful outing that led to the club’s promotion to the First Division.

 

FA Cup – Roger Hunt was involved in some of the goals that helped Liverpool claim its first-ever FA Cup title in 1964–65.

 

FA Charity Shield – His contributions also led to three FA Charity Shields.

 

3. Gordon Hodgson

 

Goals: 241

Position: Forward

Nationality: South Africa and England

 

Gordon Hodgson is the third all time Liverpool top scorer in history with 241.

 

Gordon Hodgson is interestingly a footballer as well as fast bowler. He began his career in his homeland, South Africa, with Benoni, then moving to, Rustenburg, Pretoria and Transvaal.

 

In 1925, he switched to Liverpool and began his Professional football career with the Merseyside club.

 

During his eleven-year career with the club, he scored 241 goals making him Liverpool all time leading scorer in third place.

 

Gordon was Credit as a team player who got to score as many goals as he could base on his unselfish style of play.

 

Most of his goals for the club were scored in the Football League First Division.

 

After he made his debut for Liverpool against Manchester City, he went on to register two goals in a thrilling encounter against Manchester United.

 

He consistently allowed him to play as many games as he could for Liverpool and was awarded top scorer at Liverpool in seven out of the nine full seasons he featured for the club.

 

Gordon Hodgson was one of Liverpool’s most important players capable of scoring goals when it is needed.

 

The South African also won the hearts of the fans across England.

 

4. Billy Liddell

 

Goals: 228

Position: Winger

Nationality: Scotland

 

Billy Liddell is the fourth Lives all time leading top goal scorer with 228 goals during his time at the club.

 

The Scotsman who played for the Reds enjoyed most seasons as the top scorer of the club.

 

Billy Liddell was awarded Liverpool’s leading goalscorer in the league in eight out of nine seasons.

 

Began his youth career with Kingseat Juveniles, he moved to Liverpool FC where he spent most of his Professional football career winning the English First Division.

 

As a winger, he played different roles including as a striker, at the centre and inside forward. This made him one of the club’s most feared forward players.

 

He also influenced the team which results in the league triumph in 1946–47 came and FA Cup final defeat to London club Arsenal in 1949–50.

 

English First Division – In the 1946–47 season, Billy Liddell scored important goals that helped Liverpool claim the title.

 

FA Cup – He was also part of the campaign which saw Liverpool fall to a defeat against Arsenal in the final.

 

5. Steven Gerrard

 

Goals: 186

Position: Midfielder

Nationality: England

 

Steven Gerrard is one of the best Liverpool FC players of the 21st century and until he’s retired, he was voted into the clubs elite players list.

 

With devotion and commitment, Gerrard led the club as captain to win some important trophies including the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.

 

He was a key player throughout his stay at the club.

 

He spent the majority of his playing career at Liverpool and was part of the “Miracle of Istanbul” where Liverpool came back from a 3-0 defeat to beat AC Milan in the Champions League.

 

The versatile central midfielder is regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation and was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021.

 

In the 2000–01 season, Steven Gerrard helped Liverpool FC claim the League Cup, FA Cup and also scored in the final of the UEFA Europa League to help the club claim yet another major European trophy.

 

After he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year, he came back stronger to help Liverpool claim the UEFA Super Cup and League Cup.

 

These achievements accelerated Gerrard to the status as one of Liverpool’s all time best players.

 

Premier League – Despite the huge success recorded, Liverpool failed to have a hand on the English Premier League after years of wait.

 

Gerrard and his teammates came close to the title but lost it in the end. He remains one of Liverpool’s FC modern football greats without a Premier League title.

 

FA Cup – Liverpool enjoyed more cup success with Steven Gerrard contributions. The captain helped the club to lift the FA Cup twice in 2000–01 and 2005–06.

 

Recovering from injury during the 2000–01 season, he scored ten goals as he won his first FA Cup with Liverpool FC.

 

Gerrard found the back of the net twice in the 2006 FA Cup Final against West Ham United even as Liverpool lifted yet another FA Cup title.

 

UEFA Champions League – Dubbed the “Istanbul Miracle” Gets inspired Liverpool to a Champions League comeback win against AC Milan in 2005.

 

UEFA Super Cup – The Reds lifted the UEFA Super Cup in 2001 despite qualifying for the curtain-raiser as winners of the UEFA Europa League.

 

League Cup – Gerrard scored impossible goals to help the Reds lift three League Cup titles.

 

6. Robbie Fowler

Nationality: England

 

Robbie Fowler is the sixth Liverpool all time top scorer in history with 183 goals.

 

Fowler was a product of the Liverpool FC football Academy where he was promoted to the senior team.

 

He spent nineteen seasons at Anfield and was one of the best goal-scoring strikers throughout his time with the club.

 

His breakthrough season began in the 1994–95 season, winning the League Cup.

 

In 2000–01, Robbie Fowler was part of the team that won the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

 

He also played in the UEFA Champions League final 2006–07 season which Liverpool lost in the end.

 

The trophies he won at Liverpool was the biggest throughout his Professional career as a football player.

 

FA Cup – 2000–01 season was the high point in his career. He won the FA Cup title with the Reds.

 

UEFA Europa League – The Anfield landlords won the Europa League title as one of four titles in 2001.

 

UEFA Super Cup – The Super Cup was Liverpool’s second European trophy in 2001.

 

7. Kenny Dalglish

Nationality: Scotland

 

Sir Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish is the seventh all time Liverpool FC top scorer with 172.

 

The former Scottish Professional Footballer spent thirty years with the club winning the Premier League six times, FA Cup once, League Cup four, Champions League three times, and Super Cup once.

 

He is one of Liverpool leading top scorers in history with the most club titles.

 

His top scorer’s award was accompanied by numerous titles, making him one of Liverpool’s greatest players of all time.

 

Kenny Dalglish years at the club were among the most successful periods in history.

 

Premier League/ First Division – He won over six Premier League titles with the club as a player and this includes back to back wins in 1978–79 and 1979–80.

 

Liverpool surpassed their previous achievement as it won the Premier League in three consecutive seasons in 1981–82, 1982–83 and 1983–84.

 

FA Cup – The Scottish player lifted the FA Cup trophy with the club in 1985–86.

 

Champions League – Kenny Dalglish helped Liverpool lift the Champions League title three times in one of the club’s most memorable years in history.

 

8. Michael Owen

Nationality: England

Michael James Owen is the eighth Liverpool FC all time leading scorer with 158 goals.

 

Owen won the FA Cup title with Liverpool in 2000–01. During this time, the Reds won five titles including the FA Cup, League Cup, FA Charity Shield, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.

 

9. Henry Chambers

 

Goals: 151

Position: Forward

Nationality: England

 

Henry Chambers is the ninth leading top scorer in Liverpool history with 151goals.

 

10. Mohamed Salah

 

Goals: 134 – present

Position: Forward

Nationality: Egypt

 

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s tenth all time leading scorer with 134 goals already.

 

The Egyptian footballer who began his career at Liverpool in 2017 has since established himself as one of the best players in the world.

 

Salah has won numerous titles since moving to the club including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

 

His performance has made him one of Liverpool’s greatest players in the 21st century alongside former club captain and current football manager Steven Gerrard.

 

Salah broke the scoring record and could be on his way up in future campaigns as long as he remains at the club.
