Lionel Soccoia Kano Pillars coach grabs first point in the NPFL

Lionel Soccoia Kano Pillars - Kick off

Kano Pillars new gaffer Lionel Soccoia forced Adamawa United to a draw on the road as the French manager grabbed his first point in his first game in charge of an npfl club.

The foreign tactician who recently took over the job at the Kano State-based club before the start of the new season got his first point courtesy of Rabiu Ali’s 12th-minute strike which could have earned the visitors a well-deserved win.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria, the manager justified his team’s ability to grab a point on the road despite facing an average side.
“1-1 is good for me but we came here to win, but we couldn’t.

“Football is when you have the opportunity you must score; we had too many opportunities today but we didn’t take them.” Soccoia as cited by Eagle Online Newspaper.

The manager, however, thinks his boys should have finished the game owing to the numerous opportunities they had in the course of the game, but in his eyes, there is still a room for improvement in upcoming fixtures.

Lionel Soccoia previously had stints in South Africa before deciding on a move to the Nigerian league a few months ago.

His profile shows he started his managerial career in Africa, and have since managed in over five African countries which also includes stints in the United Arab Emirates.

Lionel Soccoia, how the Frenchman plans with Kano Pillars football club

At least he is an experienced manager in the African continent, even though he was unable to carry Kano Pillars past the preliminary stages of the continental competition this season.

But in Kano, the target is already set for him within the period he’ll take charge of the team. Soccoia is expected to accelerate the fortunes of the most supported football in Nigeria to a more dominant force in the country.

However, this may not come as quickly as it is expected, even though he started fine with a draw on the road.
