About the Liga MX and the teams in the division
The Liga MX is the top-flight football league Competition in México contested by 18 clubs across the country.
The bottom-placed team is relegated and replaced by winners of the Ascenso MX, the country’s second division league.
Based on its competitive nature, it receives an audience across the world including the United States where some Primera Division games receive more attention than MLS games.
Since its inception in 1943, different winners have emerged with Club América and Chivas Guadalajara having more titles than others.
The league has never been a one-sided affair, rather it is one of the most competitive in the world.
It runs two short tournaments known as Apertura (opening) and Clausura (Closing).
The two winners battle for the Super Cup and bragging rights in the Campeón de Campeones which is a one-off match played.
The winner of the Campeón de Campeones qualifies for the Campeones Cup Trophy match played between winners of the MLS Cup and the Campeón de Campeones.
Popularity
The Méxican league is one of the most popular in the Américas. It receives audience from around the world including United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
It is also one of the wealthiest soccer Competition in the Américas with a very high revenue share accrued from domestic and international TV rights.
Competitiveness
It is one of the most competitive leagues in the Américas as well as grabbing the status in the world.
In Liga MX, it is rare to find clubs that can boost four to five consecutive league titles.
The highest had been three. Topsides including Club América, Chivas Guadalajara, CF Monterey, Tigres UANL, etc battle for the country’s top price.
Traditional sides in the league are Club América, Guadalajara, Tigres UANL, Toluca, Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Santos Laguna, Pumas UNAM, etc.
These clubs form a major rivalry and have played each other.
In the history of the league, Chivas and América are the only two active founders and have never been relegated from the division.
Chivas Guadalajara vs Club América El Súper Clásico derby
This is the biggest national derby and also one of the biggest in world football.
The two teams are always locked in a fierce battle in which a winner wins the bragging rights affair.

In terms of revenue, the league boost a large market share in the domestic and international scene through Television rights.
The league has a fierce Competition with the Major League Soccer in the United States and Canada who earns the highest attention.
Teams from the Liga MX is followed by people in the United States more than the way they follow the domestic league.
This is not unconnected with the success recorded over the years. The MLS had been in existence since 1943 while the MLS recently gained prominence.
