Laporte on the verge of moving to Al-Nassr
Manchester City footballer Aymeric Laporte has agreed to join the Saudi club Al-Nasr, which has already agreed on compensation with Citizens.
The exact amount that the club from Riyadh will pay to hire the Spanish national team player is not yet known. The entire transfer has already been agreed upon, but the approval of Al-Nassr’s board is pending.
Laporte has been a member of Manchester City since 2018, when the Etihad Club paid 65 million euros to bring him from Athletic Bilbao. The Spaniard has since played 180 matches for the English club, winning the Champions League trophy.
He was the Premier League champion five times, won the FA Cup twice with City, and the League Cup four times.
The stopper, during his stay in the north of England, mostly had a notable role. That changed last season – he struggled with injuries, but manager Pep Guardiola also preferred to rely on Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake.
That’s why Laporte’s departure from Manchester City has been mentioned throughout the summer – there was speculation about Tottenham and Barcelona, but it seems that the 29-year-old will go to Al-Nassr.
It seems that he wants to go there, too, because he entered the penultimate year of his contract with the Citizens and lost his place as a starter.
And that was last season when he played only 12 Premier League games. At the same time, it is estimated that there will be even fewer on the field because Manchester City allocated 90,000,000 euros for the transfer of Joško Guardiola, and it is clear that the Croat will have an advantage.
When you add to that the statuses of Ruben Dias and Manuel Akandzi, and even John Stones, although Pep Guardiola uses the Englishman more and more often in the midfield, Laporte realized that in the fierce competition, it was time for him to leave.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana, and Alex Telles are already playing for that club. At the same time, the squad led by Luis Castro is expected to be strengthened by Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, while negotiations are ongoing with Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alison.
