Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletic Club Bilbao are the strong founding members of the league which saw Barcelona lift the inaugural season in 1929.

 

 

That year, the Blaugrana became Champions of the top Division after leading the table till the end of the season which they could no longer defend, leaving it in the hands of Athletic Club Bilbao who had to win it for the next three seasons before Real Madrid entered the scene.

 

 

For Athletic Club, it was steady improvement on the side of the team’s handlers which swa them at the top echelon of football in the country.

 

 

° Barcelona: Barca with a high number of fans within and outside the country marked it’s entrance to the scene by winning the first campaign.

 

 

Although they could not defend it, it was another opportunity for the team to win it some few seasons after. Since then, the club became consistent, winning over 26 titles and runners up in 26 occasions

 

 

Despite the slump, Barcelona is the most club within domestic spanish competitions.

 

Also at the international level, barca have won the Championship League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

 

° Real Madrid

 

The Los Blancos entered the scene five years later after the establishment of the La Liga in 1929.

 

Since then, they have gone on to win over 34 titles more than every other founding members of the league.

 

 

The club have also won a couple of domestic trophies including the Copa Del Rey, the Supercopa de España and other notable national laurel.

 

Internationally, it was only a matter of time even as the Los Blancos won the Championship League five straight seasons, shooting the club’s status to the highest level in the world.

 

 

° Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid have won up to 10 league titles including two UEFA Europa league titles as well as getting to the finals of the UEFA Champions League.
