La Liga standings, League Table as Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid in Madrid derby

Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid to claim bragging rights of the Madrid Derby through goals from Casemiro and an own goal from Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

 

The two sides started equally, but the home side edged closer to their first goal barely twenty minutes into the game.

 

The host kept on pressing until Casemiro got on the score sheet, fifteen minutes into the game through an assist from Toni Kroos.

 

The German midfielder took a corner kick which landed on the head of Casemiro, who had no option but to head home for Madrid’s on the night.

 

The second goal came through a shot from outside the 18-yard box which was too hot to handle for Jan Oblak.
