Kaizer Chiefs ranking in Africa 2021: Trophies, achievements & records
Kaizer Chiefs is one of the best and most successful soccer clubs in South Africa Ranked 18th in Africa according to the CAF five year ranking system.
The performance of the club in history shows it is one of South Africa’s top-performing clubs in CAF club competitions alongside Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, etc.
Kaizer Chiefs is one of the most successful teams in South Africa with over 50 FIFA recognized trophies which makes it stand out amongst other clubs in the Premier Soccer League.

This achievement had drawn a large chunk of Soccer lovers to follow up with the development of the team, making it the club with the most fans in the country.
With an average matchday attendance of over 14 thousand, the club draws the second-largest matchday crowd in the country.

One of the Sorry stories of the club on the African continent was the ban from the Confederation of African Football in 2005 following the club’s withdrawal from the Competition.
During these years, the CAF inter-club Tournament wasn’t as lucrative as it is today.

The club had always prioritised domestic success over African club glory. This is however noticed in the club’s cabinet with only continental glory been the old CAF Cup Winners Cup.
The team had fielded much weaker sides in the Competition.
Although this has improved in the past few seasons as Kaizer Chiefs had progressed further to the knockout stages.
In the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League, the club eased past Tanzanian side Simba SC to reach the semi-finals.

Kaizer Chiefs became part of the South African contingent for the company following the club’s second-place finish on the league table.
Preliminary Round: Chiefs eliminated Cameroon club PWD Bamenda to advance to the next round.
First Round: The Club eliminated Angolan wife Primera d Agosto similarly, scoring just a single goal to advance to group stages after playing out a draw in the first leg in Angola.
Group Stage: Group C
In the group stages, Kaizer Chiefs were fielded in group C having top sides on the continent including the famous Wydad Athletic Club, Guinea’s Horoya as well as another Angolan giant Petro de Luanda.
In the group stages, Kaizer Chiefs battled to clinch the second spot behind leaders Wydad Athletic Club following two wins, three draws and a single loss.
The South Africans were tied on the same points with third-placed Horoya but qualified based on several goals scored according to the CAF rules for the 2020/2021 Competitions.
Quarterfinals: Chiefs white washed Tanzania giants Simba SC in the first leg at the FNB Stadium at home, scoring four goals without reply from the visitors.
Moving on to the reverse fixture in Tanzania, South Africans faced a big scare in the hands of Simba SC who scored three goals only requiring another goal to put the game in an all square.
This was the biggest scare the club had faced in CAF competitions over the past few years.
Semifinals: Kaizer Chiefs will battle with Moroccan side and group stage opponents Wydad Athletic Club.
A win and a draw would see them in the finals.
This success is one of the best the club has had in the Competition over here years of its participation in the top continental club showpiece.
Despite this underwhelming performance on the continent, the club is still regarded as one of the best in Africa with a very high number of followers across the Sub Saharan African region to date.

Premier Soccer League – South Africa
When it comes to the South African league, Kaizer Chiefs has won four titles.
The club also enjoyed success in the old National Soccer League and National Professional Soccer League with four and five titles respectively.
Other notable trophies
Kaizer Chiefs boost of a record 15 MTN8 Cups, record 13 Telkom Knockouts, and record 13 Nedbank Cup titles.
Kaizer Chiefs ranking in Africa
In the 2020 ranking, Kaizer Chiefs were not found in the top 70 clubs on the continent. In the rankings for 2021, Kaizer Chiefs were ranked 18th on the continent.
Chiefs are currently on the way to achieving and a huge milestone in the club’s history by getting to the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League and eventually winning the final.
Topsides including record Champions League winners Al Ahly, Wydad Athletic Club and Esperance Tunis.
The support and how the club aims to reach the finals
Topside Mamelodi Sundowns were eliminated by Al Ahly in the quarter-finals, leaving Chiefs as the only South African club in the Competition.
As it had always been, all South African professional soccer clubs have drummed up support for the club.
Although the club’s pedigree is not a factor here, Kaizer Chiefs do have their fate in their hands by ensuring they take all available advantage to secure passage to the final.
