The new Real Madrid forward has been handed the number 14 jersey following the announcement of his arrival at Real Madrid. He will be part of the Los Blancos’ first team for the 2023/24 season.

The Spaniard needs no introduction to the capital city club after graduating from the Castilla team.

For Real Madrid, the number 14 is iconic at the club. At least some of the biggest names in the club’s history, like Xabi Alonso, Casemiro, and Guti, have worn it.

Although the signing of the forward was a surprise to some Real Madrid followers, it was a step taken to cover the spaces that were left since the departure of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz.

According to statistics for last season, Joselu had 16 goals and provided two assists in the Spanish La Liga with Espanyol, and the Los Blancos want to take advantage of his goal-scoring prowess.

Although this is not a long-term project, he is expected to form a core part of Real Madrid’s attack next season even though a new striker arrives in the summer.
