Jesse Sekidika’s place in the first team at Galatasaray appears to be on a tight rope and the only solution remains a loan switch, which is currently a debate at fellow Super Lig side Göztepe.
The record Turkish league champions signed the Nigerian international back in 2020 with the intent of integrating the versatile winger with the first team as quickly as possible.
But he has only managed seven appearances so far without registering a goal across all competitions.
At Göztepe, there’s a problem that needs to fix. As part of solutions on the ground at the club, the İzmir club contacted the Red and Yellow for the services of Jesse Sekidika who’s currently out of contention for a starting shirt.
Latest on Galatasaray: The details as Jesse Sekidika joins Konyaspor on loan until the end of the 2020/2021 season
The good news for the Nigerian, Coach of Göztepe İlhan Palut has already approved the signing of the player as quickly as possible, a measure that would help the club’s forward line for remaining part of the season (h/t Ajansspor).
He is currently contracted to Galatasaray until 2024, but Göztepe provides an escape route for quick recovery of his lost time at the club.
Last season with Eskişehirspor, he scored 14 goals in 29 appearances, but have failed to settle since making the move to the Turkish record champions.
In our earlier report, Fahit Terim singled out Sekidika as one of the players he would like to send on loan, to provide more avenues for him to play.
According to the coach, he wants him out on loan as a result of his inability to perform the way he was expected to. Right now, there are no plans to sell him since his contract is until 2024.
Galatasaray wants him to become one of the best at the club. At least one of the reasons he will be on his way out of the club on loan for the time being.
As per the coach, there’s still plans for him at the club.
