Jefferson Lerma is shining at Bournemouth; now Sevilla wants him to move to Spain in the summer
Jefferson Lerma is one of the best players at AFC Bournemouth and the reason behind the clubs’ resurgence in the English Premier League following a poor start to the campaign.
The Colombian midfielder has made over 35 Premier League appearances this season for the Cherries, with five goals to his name.
But what seems to be unsolved regarding the player is his contract. The 28-year-old is in the final lap of his contract at Vitality Stadium with no extension in sight.
And right now, Sevilla wants him to join them in the summer. According to Estadio Deportivo (h/t Fichajes), the club has a three-man shortlist ahead of the transfer window, with the Colombian included.
Lerma is not new to Spanish football, as he played for Levante from 2016 to 2018 before heading to Bournemouth. According to the report, the Seville-based club sees him as a great addition to the team ahead of next season.
Other names on the shortlist include Branco Van den Boomen from Toulouse and the retention of Pape Gueye, who is on loan from French club Marseille.
During AFC Bournemouth’s loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, the Colombian was left with a broken nose after being “Punched” By Joachim Andersen, as per Sports Illustrated. Although VAR checks suggest, it may be unintentional.
