Match Preview
It was a dream start for the Italians as they performed spectacularly to defeat tournament heavyweight Brazil in their opening game.
SPAL wonder kid Matteo Prati opened the scoring for Italy 11 minutes from kickoff before Cesare Casadei doubled the lead for the Italians. The Reading FC star scored Italy’s third in the 35th minute.
Brazil’s Marcos Leonardo, however scored twice in the second half but was not enough to secure a comeback for the South Americans.
Nigeria was down after Edison Azcona converted from the spot to hand the Dominican Republicans an early lead. But a fightback which included an own goal and a second-half strike from Samson Lawal, gave the Flying Eagles an important win in the group opener.
