Serie A side Inter Milan has targeted Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino as a replacement for Lukaku. The top hierarchy at the club sees the Liverpool forward as a suitable candidate to replace the Belgian who is currently on loan from Chelsea.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Fichajes), Inter Milan are seriously considering a move for Roberto Firmino as they see him as the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

At Inter Milan, there’s serious consideration about the money the club spends on the player. According to the loan agreement with Chelsea, 20 million euros is spent on the player which includes his salary and the loan fee, whereas a deal with Firmino could only cost the club around 10 million euros annually.

What is the latest on Inter Milan and Roberto Firmino’s transfer?

Inter Milan proposes an 8 million euros per season salary for the Brazilian, but it is far less compared to what Liverpool expects from the club (10 million euros). But there are indications the deal will remain at 10 million euros in the end.

The Nerazzurri are concerned about the performance of Lukaku. The Belgian has struggled to find his best form, managing just two goals, one each in the Italian Serie A and the in the UEFA Champions League.

Inter Milan no longer considers keeping the player beyond this season and would like to try out new options. Even though Roberto Firmino is expected to renew his contract with Liverpool, The Nerazzurri will try to sign him from the Reds.
