FIFA Club World Cup preview, Prediction and teams to watch

This year’s edition features Champions League winners Chelsea FC who’s out to avenge their loss during the last campaign to Brazilian soccer team Corinthians. The Blues under coach Thomas Tuchel has become one of the best in the English top flight.

Thomas identified some of the problems in his team, which includes scoring more goals when needed. This was also behind the signing of former Inter Milan forward and 2021 top scorer Romelu Lukaku.

Elsewhere in North America, CF Monterrey head coach Javier Aguirre would like to surpass the previous performance of his predecessor, this time in the United Arab Emirates.

Javier Aguirre won the CONCACAF Champions League against Club América and has been saddled with flying the North American flag on the world stage. Monterrey, otherwise known as Royados, has a killer squad and are expected to go beyond the semi-final.

In 2020, Tigres UANL got to the finals of the Club World Cup but were unfortunate as Bayern Munich edged the Mexicans to claim their second title.

South American giants Palmeiras boast some of the best legs on the South American continent, from Raphael Veiga to Scarpa and Rony.

The Brazilian heavyweights have begun the 2022 flying start in the Campeonato Paulista and hope to get the job done in the United Arab Emirates.

Al Ahly is a strong team; Al Hilal are a complete threat; Al Jazira may sting a bit, while AS Pirae from Oceania could be working on a thing rope on their Club World Cup debut.

Prediction

Chelsea remain favourites in the race to win the 18th edition of the Club World Cup but face an uphill task. Palmeiras lie and wait, CF Monterrey are all out to prove a point.

Al Ahly has been consistent in the competition but hasn’t made it to the finals, and head coach Pitso Mosinane knows what’s at stake. Al Hilal Saudi Arabia could perform better this time thanks to their ever-growing Brazilian strike force.

Chelsea to reach finals (Win)

Palmeiras to contest heavily (Either way)

CF Montréal to bite harder (Fair play)
