The Bayern Munich Youth Academy system

There’s no direct way to walk your path through the FC Bayern Munich youth team in Germany.

The club mainly relies on its scouting system to find the most “good enough” local talents across Germany.

There’s more emphasis on local talents. So, scouting for players begins within the region and the rest of the country.

Another way is Talent Day, where tryouts are conducted during weekends for admission into the Academy.

1. Join Local teams in Munich and the surrounding region

To be discovered first, you must be part of a local team in the Munich region.

The scouting department begins its Program in the Munich region before moving to other areas like the southern part of the country.

Within the Munich region, there are Bayern Munich partners or affiliated Academies you could join.

2. Talent Days

Talent Day is a scouting clinic or activity organised by the Bayern Munich Junior Team to scout for good players in Germany and international players.

Players are evaluated through a rigorous process. Players deemed good enough would make it to the Bayern Munich Junior Team. Over the years, Talent Days have drawn young players from around the world, including the United States, France, Australia, etc

How to succeed in talent Days

*Bring out the best in you

Talent Days are once-in-a-while tryouts organised by the club, and as such, you should try your best to be considered for selection.

*Avoid unnecessary soccer skills

A club like Bayern Munich is not looking for skilled stars. Instead, its focus is on developing players willing to grow their careers. The Talent Days usually take fifteen to twenty minutes for coaches to select the best-performing players.

It would help to avoid dribbling, long-running, and self-isolation ( avoid team play).

*Follow the rules

Ensure you adhere to every instruction given. What Bayern Munich coaches want from you is your ability to play confidently.

The scouts are looking for how well the participants “cope with the ball”, “particular skill”, “excellent dribbling”, and “good vision”.

3. Join an Academy or club affiliated with Bayern Munich

Your best bet here is to be part of a football club or an Academy affiliated with Bayern Munich to stand a chance.

As a member, your recommendation and scouring report would be sent directly to the Academy chiefs at Bayern Munich.

If you are good enough, an invitation will be extended per the partnership agreement with your current team or Academy.

4. Football Camps in Germany

There are several football camps across Germany willing to help you move your career up to the next level.

Some of the Summer Camps in Germany have established strong links with top European football clubs, including teams in the Bundesliga.

Although most Bundesliga clubs rely on players scouted through tryouts, these football camps could help you connect with a club in no distant time.

However, you should bear in mind the fees you could pay for registration, accommodation and other expenses related to the Summer Camp.

Most Football Camps in Germany are open to players from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, etc.

5. FC Bayern Munich Youth Cup

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is the world’s biggest and oldest international youth football tournament (series) carried out by a football club.

It is conducted yearly with existing FC Bayern partners in selected countries (including Brazil, China, India, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Singapore, Thailand and the USA).

At the end of the National Final in the participating country, the Bayern Munich representative selects players to form a new team known as the National Team.

The National Team consist of the ten best male players of the participating country aged 14 to 16 years.

The National Team can then travel to Munich to participate in the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final.

6. Bayern Munich affiliate clubs

You could be invited to try out at FC Bayern Munich as part of the agreement. A typical example is FC Dallas of the Major League Soccer.

An example of a player who signed for the club was Chris Richards, a product of FC Dallas of the MLS but moved to Bayern Munich on a ten-day trial as part of an agreement between the two sides.

So far, there has been no report of payment. The Academy is made accessible until players graduate to become professionals.

However, before you become part of the team, your travel, lodge, feeding, clothing and taxi fares are expected to be covered by you.

FC Bayern Campus – The Campus is a sports complex located north of Munich that serves various sporting activities, including football, basketball, handball and table tennis.
