Real Madrid, the greatest football club on the European continent, interestingly has a surprising history regarding the UEFA Super Cup. The competition was not the best playground for Los Blancos, who lost in the late 90s and early 2000s.
However, Real Madrid boasts a significant number of European Super Cup trophies in its cabinet.

How many UEFA Super Cup trophies has Real Madrid won?
Real Madrid, the most successful team in Europe, has won the UEFA Super Cup five times and are joint top with Barcelona and AC Milan with five titles. The Los Blancos defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki push the club on level terms with the two initial leaders.
The UEFA Super Cup was established in 1972 and was contested between the winners of the European Cup (renamed the UEFA Champions League) and the European/UEFA Cup Winners’s Cup until 1999. But it went on hiatus and was merged with the UEFA Cup (renamed the Europa League).
This addresses the questions as to why Real Madrid is behind in the Super Cup when it is the most successful team in Champions League history. The club had its first appearance in the UEFA Super Cup in 1998, which was lost to English side Chelsea and yet another loss two years after to Turkish side Galatasaray.
Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in 2002 and subsequently dominated between 2014, 2016, 2017 and most recently in 2022.
