‘Messi knows that he will be at home at Barça, ” says Laporta

Although when this would be a reality remains uncertain, things could be made clear after the World Cup, even as the Argentine is yet to sign a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.

What is happening to Lionel Messi and his contract at PSG

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain would end in June 2023 with no signs of an extension which puts his future in doubt even though the club’s hierarchy is pursuing an extension with the player.

This season, he’s already shown to be a worthy playmaker for the club, a piece of Gold the club had been lacking all these years.

What will happen to Messi after the World Cup?

The uncertainty surrounding his future at Paris Saint-Germain is expected to intensify existing rumours, and the French club could find it challenging to convince the player to extend his contract.

But every aspect of his future has to wait until 2023 as his focus shifts to the World Cup. Messi and his teammates will take on Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.
