Harry Maguire is set to stay at Old Trafford after his move from Manchester United to West Ham fell through. On August 9, a deal worth £30m was reached.

Even though it was believed that Maguire was willing to come to the London Stadium, the Hammers have not heard from him on when the deal can be finalized.

West Ham grew irritated with the delay and is considering alternate central defensive options. Maguire had agreed to personal terms with West Ham, but the club was waiting for the England international to agree to a pay-off from Manchester United.

The 30-year-old’s pay increased significantly due to United’s Champions League qualification and would decrease at West Ham. It’s believed that he wants roughly £7 million to leave Old Trafford.

It is unclear whether United will be able to sell Maguire, who is keen on receiving a payoff. According to rumors, the defender has asked United for a final settlement of up to £15 million ($19 million). 

The England international was on the bench for United’s 1-0 win over Wolves on Monday. It was not called on as manager Erik ten Hag used five replacements and replaced central defender Lisandro Martinez with Victor Lindelof at halftime.

Ten Hag had previously stated that Maguire, 30, would be better off leaving United if he is not confident enough to compete for a place in the first team.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils want to replace Maguire with Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, expected to cost roughly £35 million ($45 million).
