Head Coach of Galatasaray Fahit Terim sent his farewell message to Oghenekaro Etebo as the Nigerian midfielder departs the Turkish Super Lig side for his parent club Stoke City as his loan at the club comes to an end.
Etebo who was brought on loan from the English Championship side last season contributed his quota to Galatasaray’s campaign in the Turkish national first division, although he was deprived from playing as a result of injury.
Terim, who gave his farewell speech in an interview granted in the Turkish language thanked the Nigerian for his time at the club according to Sporx.
However, the club though it was better to send him on loan, so he can gain more experience playing with different sets of players.
Etebo had two loan spells. The first was at Getafe, where he scored a goal in 10 appearances for the La Liga side.
The second loan was the agreement with Galatasaray, where he managed to get 8 appearances.
Throughout his stay at the club, he had eight appearances without registering a goal.
Etebo’s next phase as he departs for Stoke City
The fact is clear, Galatasaray never thought of keeping the midfielder for the second round of the Turkish league, so he has to leave to pave way for fresh signings in January.
Sporx has already tipped Ryan Babel to join the side in the January transfer window.
For Etebo, He’ll return to Stoke City to continue with his career. Looking back at his time at Galatasaray, he could only get eight appearances in a possible fourteen league games.
His impact isn’t at the level everyone had expected it to be, compared to his form in Stoke City in 2018.
At least as per Anadolu News Agency, his loan spell with the Turkish side was billed to last until the end of the season. But the club had decided to make a U-turn.
