Fulham open to signing Man Utd defender Eric Bailly
Fulham are in talks with Manchester United about signing Eric Bailly, as Marco Silva is willing to offer the Ivorian an opportunity.
According to rumors, Fulham is negotiating with ex-Manchester United player Eric Bailly to strengthen their defense. The Ivorian, still under contract at Old Trafford for £80,000 a week, is no longer needed.
Marco Silva is still looking for a new defender to add to his squad before the transfer window closes, and he is considering various options. Calvin Bassey’s arrival bolstered their backline.
Bailly joined United from Villarreal in the summer of 2016 for £30 million. Still, his time at Old Trafford has been marred by injuries, with the Ivorian never establishing a regular place in the first team.
The defender has only played 70 league games for United in six seasons, and he was loaned out to Marseille in 2022-23. He now appears set to be transferred, even if it means taking a substantial blow and not receiving a transfer fee.
United are willing to reach a deal to let Bailly depart on a free transfer, with Premier League side Fulham, as well as Turkish and Saudi clubs, keen on signing him.
Although Bailly had previously been on the verge of joining Al-Nassr, Fulham appears to be a good option. Since there may be no other feasible options left, the Cottagers could appeal to the Ivorian, given that the move to Saudi Arabia may have fallen off.
Although injuries have plagued his career, the Ivorian, 29, will not be short of offers should United let him leave this summer. He is eager to restart his career and get more playing time.
