Fulham closely monitoring Arsenal striker valued at £50 million
Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is one of Fulham’s top targets to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic if the Serbian departs this summer.
Balogun is prepared to leave the Emirates Stadium for more consistent first-team action. Fulham manager Marco Silva now sees him as a possible option despite having also signed Raul Jimenez from Wolves in this transfer window.
The American international’s valuation is said to be valued at £50 million after he scored 21 league goals in 37 games while on loan to French club Reims last season. Fulham will probably want to lower that price significantly.
Balogun has also drawn interest from Inter Milan, Monaco, and West Ham, among others. However, neither team was prepared to pay Arsenal’s demand.
Monaco wants to bring Balogun back to Ligue 1, but Arsenal turned down a deal despite the midfielder striking an ‘initial agreement’ with the club.
Mitrovic has 111 goals in 206 games for Fulham, but the Premier League team is preparing to sell him to Al-Halal in Saudi Arabia this summer.
He came in fourth place in the Golden Boot race. Despite his success on loan, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta prefers Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, and Leandro Trossard up front for his team.
The 28-year-old Serbian international reportedly declared he would never play for Fulham again after they attempted to prevent the transfer by putting a £52 million price tag on him.
However, Mitrovic’s transfer to Al-Hilal is imminent, and it is anticipated that the Saudi Pro League team will pay more than £40 million to do so.
