Four Belgian clubs in the race to sign Henry Onyekuru as Monaco exit draws nearer

Henry Onyekuru

The winger who is no longer needed at AS Monaco is already attracting huge interest in Belgium as four target his signature.

Onyekuru since making a return back to Monaco after his loan spell at Galatasaray has found it even more difficult to gain regular action. This was even made worse since former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac took over the job from French League winner Leonardo Jardim.

As things stand currently, his exit from the club draws nearer as the January transfer window takes shape. For him, the best option is to head for the exit door before it will get worse than his current situation.

For the French club, they are not interested in letting the 23-year old winger depart on loan. Rather, they want an outright sale since the manager has confirmed he has no place for him in the team.

As per Voetbal, four clubs including Belgian league giants RSC Anderlecht wants to secure his services before the end of the transfer window in January.

  4. Royal Antwerp

The fast attacker is considered a hot candidate in Belgium and is expected to depart France before January comes to an end since he is allowed to leave the club.

During a BBC Program “Inside Africa” via Voetbal, Onyekuru revealed his desires amid his current situation in France.

“I want to get back to playing!” said the 23-year old winger.

Finding it difficult to play games regularly is his major problem and he needs to find a solution fast if he plans good for his career.

At least he is 23, and as an attacker, the best for himself is to find a better club that will guarantee regular game time.

Onyekuru spent last season at Galatasaray on loan, scoring a goal in 10 appearances.

Before moving to Monaco for £12 million pounds, he was with Everton, but failed to secure a work permit.
