Borussia Dortmund officially announced the signing of Filippo Calixte Mane from Sampdoria as Dortmund youth coordinator Lars Ricken expressed delight following the conclusion of the deal.
Although Borussia Dortmund is yet to provide official details of the contract, the 16-year old defender is expected to be incorporated into the professional development team.
Speaking after the deal was completed, Lars Ricken expressed his satisfaction with the deal.
“We are happy that we have been able to tie another talent to us for the long term in Filippo Mane. A good boy who has decided he wants to take the next step at Borussia Dortmund and be trained at youth level,” said the youth coordinator as published by Fussball Transfers.
The young defender would begin with the professional development team even as Dortmund continues to improve on the team defensively. Over the years, the club has had issues at the back and this could be seen as a wise move at this time.
Dortmund began the January transfer window in full swing with new signings expected to be made. The club wants to reinforce on time for the remainder of the season.
Filippo Calixte Mane is a young talent, he fits into Dortmund’s plans. At the moment, he is expected to train alongside the youth development teams.
