Festy Ebosele: Nigeria eligible defender debuts for Ireland U21
Festy Ebosele who has Nigerian roots makes his U21 debut for the Republic of Ireland U21 youth setup in an international friendly against Switzerland.
In the friendly game held in Spain, Ebosele was named in the starting lineup as Switzerland emerged winners after a comfortable 2-0 scoreline.
The 18-year old attacking right-back had already featured for various youth teams of the Republic of Ireland earlier.
He played over 77 minutes before he was eventually replaced.
Festy Ebosele has his African ancestry traced down to Nigeria, from the Western part of the country which is the Yoruba tribe.
The right-back was born on the 2nd of August 2002, Wexford, County Wexford.
He joined Derby County from Bray Wanderers in 2018 and have since featured for the club’s youth development teams.
In 2021, he played his first professional game against Norwich City in the EFL Championship.
