Slashed prize money and how it could affect competition

The prize money for the 2021/2022 season had a little increase, although this could be attributed to the absence of fans and low revenue.

The effects of the coronavirus pandemic throughout 2020 caused a big impact on the FA as weights as it partners across the world.

2. Chelsea

Chelsea finished as runners up last campaign having lost to Leicester City.

Led by Thomas Tuchel, the German tactician has a course to smile despite losing the oldest football trophy in England.

The London based club with a formidable squad would be hoping to correct the impressions of last season, even though it was impressive in the end.

The rise of Mason Mount, as well as the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, is expected to help Chelsea with the goal-scoring duties upfront.

For Tuchel, his eyes are on three domestic trophies including the Emirates FA Cup, EFL Cup and the English Premier League.

3. Manchester City

Manchester City remains one of the top shots to watch this season.

Tutored by Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, the citizens have to become a strong force in English football, winning the FA Cup as well as other top domestic silverware.

The citizens could not reach the finals of last year’s edition after facing a shock eviction against Chelsea in the semifinals.

Guardiola knows the importance of the FA Cup and would be aiming to win every available trophy in England.

The Cityzens are one of the top sides to watch in the Competition.

4. Manchester United

Manchester United is a rejuvenated side with a lot of stars already making the headlines in the English division.

Last season United were knocked out of the FA Cup in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Leicester City.

But there’s a new twist and a turnaround for Man United in the new season.

Top players including Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Harry Maguire, McTominay would be hoping to lift a major trophy after a long while.

Also, the introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho is expected to further increase the hit and potential win the FA Cup as well as another domestic and international trophy for the club.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to improve on his tactics in a bid to push his side towards a trophy-winning position.

5. Southampton

Southampton gave Manchester United a shock eviction from the FA Cup last season but fell to Leicester City side with more firepower.

The Saints experienced a little bit of torrid season at some point in the season although the FA Cup experience remained on a positive side.

Southampton would be hoping for a better outing this year in the competition after an eviction in the semifinals last year.

Although some of its key players were lost to some bigger Premier League teams, Southampton is geared up for the Premier League and other domestic competitions.

6. West Ham United

West Ham United has enjoyed steady progress over the last three seasons.

The emergence of former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes had also helped in reshaping the club.

Top players including Michail Antonio, Declan Rice etc were on hand to help the Hammers to reach the fifth round before losing to Manchester United.

This year, West Ham United takes a new turn with a rejuvenated squad as well as new players in its fold would be hoping for better outings in the country’s oldest football competition.

West Ham United is one of the four London based clubs in the English top flight.

7. Everton

Everton’s quarter-finals exit last year did not come as a surprise.

The Toffees lost honourably to Manchester City led by current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti who left the Premier League club for the Los Blancos at the end of the last campaign.

Former Liverpool and Premier League household name Rafael Benítez has been saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the club’s success this season.

8. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers had a shock eviction from the FA Cup in the fifth round again Southampton.

Former manager Nuno Santo had been in charge of the club over the last couple of years, keeping the club’s Premier League status alive.

Wolverhampton Wanderers with some of the best young players in the division will be hoping for a better outcome this year.

9. Liverpool

Liverpool FC had a disappointing run in the competition last year, facing eviction from the fourth round.

Although it was against Manchester United, the Reds left the FA Cup scene miles from the quarter-finals.

Led by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool is currently one of the strongest football clubs in Europe.

10. Arsenal

Ranked as one of the best teams in the history of the competition, Arsenal last won the FA Cup at the end of the 2019/2020 season.

Arsenal was evicted from the competition in the fourth round against Semi-Finalist Southampton.

This was one of the worst outings ever recorded by the club over the last ten seasons.

Arsenal led by Mikel Arteta started on a bright note this season.

However, the club’s bad start to the new season continues to hang in as a problem that needs fixing.
