European Golden Shoe race – 2022 / 2023 standings
With goals in the Premier League, flicking through the Champions League, and a roaring challenge in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1, the European Golden Shoe race may not loosen up in the 2022-2023 season.
Who is leading the European Golden Shoe?
First, a look at how things flare up in the various European leagues.
The Premier League has seen a new leader in Erling Haaland. The Norwegian is a clear contender for the Premier League Golden Boot. His goal ratio per game has been put at 0.95, according to Sofascore.

A surprise leader, Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen leads the Serie A top scorers chart, but with a slim margin. He is one of the top contenders for the annual Capocannoniere award.
Lewandowski swapping the Bundesliga for La Liga appears to have paid off, even as he leads the chart. Bundesliga is a no man’s land, whereas Ligue 1 is witnessing a tight competition between superstars, rookies, and wonder kids.

European Golden Shoe standings 2022-2023
1. Erling Haaland – 18 Goals (36 points)

The ultimate goal for Manchester City in the summer transfer window, Erling Haaland continues to show his consistency and why he should be ranked among the best number nine in the world.
The Norwegian leads the Premier League scorers chart by a concise number. That said, he has continued to add the number one every matchday.
2. Robert Lewandowski – 12 Goals (24 points)

League: Spanish La Liga
The decision by Robert Lewandowski to seek a new challenge with Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga appears to have paid off. The Polish forward is in one pole position and now seems to be the new goal hero, saviour, and leader at the Catalan club.
Lewandowski has shown to be one of the most prolific footballers in the world.
3. Christopher Nkunku – 12 Goals (24 points)

A great revelation in the Bundesliga, Christopher Nkunku has shown to be one of the most consistent forwards in the German Bundesliga. Following the failure to prove himself at PSG, Nkunku now dominates the show in Germany with his attacking prowess and consistency in front of the goal.
In the last couple of seasons, he has managed to hit double figures.

League: Premier League
Harry Kane is one of the household names in the English Premier League and has been at this level for a while. The Tottenham Hotspur forward has won three EPL Golden boots.
This season, he has continued to bang in the goals for the Spurs under the guidance of Antonio Conte.
5. Kylian Mbappé – 12 Goals (24 points)

League: French Ligue 1
Kylian Mbappé is no surprise name on the European Golden Shoe race. The young Frenchman, along with Neymar and Lionel Messi, has been the goal provider for PSG.
Even though off-field issues have popped up, Mbappé seems undeterred and looks set to claim his first award at the highest level of football on the continent.
6. Neymar – 11 Goals (22 points)

League: French Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain’s chances in Europe heavily rely on the trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi. The Brazilian, on his part, has not failed to do so, even with the off-field issues surrounding the team.
Neymar has been one of the most outstanding players at the club this season despite facing criticism for his failure to kick it at the highest level amid the world record move to the French capital club.

The German Bundesliga has never fallen short of new stars. This is Niclas Fullkrug, the main player at the newly promoted SV Werder Bremen.
Last season in Bundesliga 2, he scored 19 goals to finish third on the top scorers’ chart. He was also the star player at Werder Bremen and one reason the club earned a promotion to the top flight after a season’s absence.

In the last couple of seasons, Fulham has made it back to the top flight, Aleksandar Mitrovic has been their star player, and this season is no exception.
