The longest and certainly the most followed transfer saga of the last transfer window is Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich.
After many twists and turns in the negotiations, waiting at the airport, chasing around the city after the most followed vehicle in Germany, the red Audi, the captain of the England national team, succeeded in his goal.

Deep into the night, medical examinations were carried out, which Kane passed, and then he initiated the contract with the Bavarian team. It is for four years. Then he triumphantly appeared on the terrace below which several hundred Bayern fans were waiting for him, who was on duty all day and night, waiting for their new favourite.
That marked the end of the transfer, and Kane became only the 3rd English player in Bayern Munich. For many, it’s unbelievable that a team like Bayern Munich, with such a rich history, had only three players from one of the most talented football countries in the world.
Before Kane, the most famous English player in Bayern was Owen Hargreaves. He started his career in Calgary Foothills in Canada, but his talent was noticed by Bayern’s scouts and at 16 years old, he joined the German giant. After playing in the young categories for several years, he was promoted to the first squad by legendary Ottmar Hitzveld.
He soon became one of the main players in the team, and he was part of this team from 2000 to 2007 when he joined Manchester United. In Bayern, he had 145 appearances, and his career was marked by several serious injuries which stopped him from becoming an even bigger football star.
In Bayern, he won 4 Bundesliga titles, 3 DFB Pokal, 1 DFB Ligapokal, 1 UEFA Champions League and 1 Intercontinental Cup. In 2007, he moved to England, to Manchester United and there he won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. In 2006, he was England Player of the Year.

Recently, another English player moved to Bayern, although his transfer was somehow under the radar. It’s Omar Richards who, in 2021, signed a year’s contract with Bayern as a free agent.
In Germany, he was described as one of the most talented left-backs in the world, but he didn’t show much on the field. He was part of Bayern only for a year, making 12 appearances before moving to Nottingham Forest.
Harry Kane is undoubtedly the most famous English player in recent years in Germany, and he will be under pressure to bring trophies to this German and European football giant and most likely to become an example for other English talents to join this team in the future.
