Dominik Szoboslai: The way forward after Leipzig move
Hungarian left attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboslai made an iconic move to German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig despite links with several clubs across Europe like Arsenal and AC Milan.
The versatile player was one of the high profile players that Leipzig had ever wanted to have in their ranks at the moment after seeing quality players like Timo Werner leave the club.
At least, the club achieved the feat of signing the player despite several rumours with some European powerhouse like Arsenal, AC Milan and clubs in La Liga.
But what has followed his move to Leipzig, is the versatile midfielder making it in his new club after making that iconic move from Salzburg?
Coming through the youth ranks of the Austrian Bundesliga club RB Salzburg, the highly-rated left midfielder cruised past the youth development squad up to the senior team.

He became one of the most valuable players at the club. These and more were the reasons behind the desire of the German club to consider him a major target amidst excess options on the table.
The exploit at Salzburg
He was a teenager when he was signed from MTK Budapest to FC Liefering, the team created as the reserve team for Red Salzburg.
After an impressive performance at the age-grade level, he was quickly promoted to the senior team on merit. After the promotion, he was quickly handed a shirt for his professional debut.

He later moved on to Red Salzburg for his main senior assignment. There, he made over had 56 appearances for the club, scoring 16 times in the process which includes two hat tricks.
It was indeed a memorable one for him.
Transfer rumours and the snub of bigger clubs
It was a good round of rumours as Dominik Szoboslai became the order of the day across major news media outlets on the internet.
This was because of the shock links with Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid, who were faced with the problem of a poor run of form.
The other two notable names were Premier League side Arsenal and Serie A title hopefuls AC Milan, who had in their sights as they hope to make history, winning the Serie A with a new face.
Talking about AC Milan snub, the emerging Hungarian midfielder ignored the option of AC Milan in favour of Leipzig,
Which was seen as his major destination amid irresistibly offer the Serie A side were ready to offer him.
According to Sempre Milan, the reason the Hungary Professional Footballer moved to the German Bundesliga was the similar style and competition the league has with the Austrian league.

If he had not chosen to move to Germany, it would have been a different case now.
But, it was the best decision he had taken to join the club from the German league which offered more competition for a player of his quality.
The online portal also revealed there were opportunities better than the offer from the Saxony based Club which he had to snub to play in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig stance since leaving for the club in January
He was officially unveiled by the club from Saxony as one of the new signings for the upcoming season.
At least, this was the right choice the club had taken since the departure of Timo Werner who was replaced by South Korean star Hwang Hee-Chan.
However for Szoboslai, since making that iconic move, he is yet to enjoy quality time with the club which is a result of unwanted injuries.
He is still yet to make his debut for the club. As per Business, his target is to come back stronger to play at the highest level for his new club where he was bought for 20 million euros.
His stats and count towards his high expectations from the club and its fans
Back in Red Salzburg, he scored 16 important goals for the club including two hat tricks. At least under 56 appearance was not too small for a 20-year old attacking midfielder of his quality.
In Liefering, he also got the same number of goals, but this time was under 46 games.
The stats show he is a quality midfielder who can provide the most important goals when they are needed.
The way forward
With the injury, he has been sidelined for months even though his initial target was to return in February. But with the 2020/2021 season almost winding down, he could return probably towards the end of the season or the early part of next season.
Hopefully, Dominik Szoboslai would come back stronger to justify the reason why he was made a priority by the top hierarchy of the Bundesliga club.
There’s still more to play for even as the club continue it’s hunt for the league title and the UEFA Champions League which was almost achieved in 2020.
