Liverpool Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez added time header sealed Liverpool’s fifteenth FA Community Shield at the King Power Stadium. The Reds had gone ahead in the game after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross went straight into the Manchester City net.

Barely ten minutes into the Second half, Julian Álvarez brought Man City back in the game after Phil Foden had capitulated on Adrian’s spilt ball.

Jürgen Klopp quickly made a tactical substitute and introduced Darwin Nunez to the game.

About seven minutes to the end of the game, Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot after the Video Assistant Referee had spotted Ruben Dias’s handball appeal by Darwin Nunez.

The Reds continued to push for the final nail on the head, which paid off as Darwin Nunez headed home Liverpool’s third  goal that ensured the club’s sixteenth Community Shield.

According to Statistics, Liverpool only managed 396 compared to Man City’s 537 and ball possession of 58 per cent. Manchester City also had eight shots on target compared to Liverpool’s four.

Jürgen Klopp played a 4-3-3 formation that worked well without his star player Sadio Mané who currently plays for Bayern Munich following his transfer to the German club at the end of last season.

Taking a look at Darwin Nunez’s performance, Liverpool could have a new goal scorer that would guarantee goals when they are needed.

Mohamed Salah was on the score sheet through the spot, while Luiz Díaz and Roberto Firmino were better on the day.

A game to remember, Darwin Nunez may not forget his first goal in an English football game after scoring four goals in the Preseason against RB Leipzig.

In the English football community, the two men shown of Erling Haaland and Julian Álvarez even though the duo we present did not go as expected. Haaland missed from close range while Álvarez scored City’s only goal of the game.
