Cyriel Dessers: Genk wants to sell, Dutch, Belgium clubs interested
Belgian Pro League outfit Genk wants to sell Cyriel Dessers who was one of the over-hyped players at the club after he arriving from the Dutch Eredivisie side Heracles last summer.
Although things did go well during his early arrival at the club, he was able to convince the board members at Genk, scoring few times.
However, things went bad, as it went from high expectations to a poor run of form which was part of the club’s slip on the league table.
Last season, the Belgian club tried everything they could to ensure they won the race to sign him for a whooping sum of four million euros for a player of his level.
At least, even though he would not become the next Cristiano Ronaldo at this level, he was expected to score as many goals he can for the club who had justified the idea of securing his services from Heracles last summer.
However, as things stand currently, Genk wants to sell him to any interested club for a fee valued in the region of three million euros less what they paid to get his signature from the Dutch club.
The good thing for the club is, he is already generating suitors across several Belgian First Division A clubs as well in the Dutch Eredivisie, where his goalscoring form was noticed.
What Genk paid for Cyriel Dessers and the reason behind it
At Heracles last summer, he was very fantastic banging the goals for the club.
The history
During the 2019–2020 season with Heracles, the Nigerian international netted 16 times in 26 appearances for the club. This was the same reason the Dutch side signed him from FC Utrecht, where he scored 14 goals in 47 appearances.
For the record, Dessers is impressive in front of the goal. But it appears the Belgian league is not favourable for a start and the top hierarchy at Genk is not willing to be patient with him, at least not a time the club aims to win trophies with the current level of players in the team.
According to Voetbal24, the club wants to get rid of him as quick as possible.
The source also revealed the 26-year old is already looking at a new challenge despite moving to the club just a year ago.
At least, the heavy interest from some unknown teams in the Eredivisie and Belgian league gives more confidence at this time, even though is not given a chance to rebuild on himself.
How much Genk wants to sell Cyriel Dessers after securing his services last summer
The club is not particularly looking at how much it was bought with. But all they wish is to find a new club for the misfiring attacker who gave the club high hopes for the new season.
However, he would be sold at 3 million euros to clubs interested in securing his services at least as the next transfer window approaches.
Dessers Stats at Genk and the reason why the club wants to sell him almost immediately
Signed a four-year deal, Cyriel could only manage four goals from 26 appearance which is far too low for a player of his quality.
He is a goal machine quite alright, but it appears to be disturbing for Genk who had high hopes of getting better outcomes with him.
Fellow compatriot, Paul Onuachu has singlehandedly taken over the goalscoring duties at the club, leaving behind the once in form striker out of sight.
This season, Onuachu has scored 26 goals for Genk in the Belgian First Division A alone, surging the club towards the playoffs spot, a reason he was invited to the Nigerian National team.

For the 26-year old, he is not a newcomer in the league as he has played for clubs like OH Leuven and Lokeren.
The club would be willing to sell him at the end of the season the moment they receive an offer for him.
