Following the departure of Karim Benzema, there’s a significant change in the leadership of Real Madrid ahead of next season. The Frenchman joined Saudi club Al Hilal ahead of the new season.

And now the club has officially announced a reshuffle in the leadership positions of the team. Nacho Fernandez has been appointed the club’s new captain for the 2023/2024 season.

Nacho agreed to extend his contract with the club and will lead the team into the new campaign. Apart from the Spanish, other positions have been assigned to other players.

Croatian midfielder and club legend Luka Modrić gets the role of an assistant captain of Real Madrid after Nacho. The 37-year-old has been outstanding for the club and looks set to continue one more season at the club.

Real Madrid’s third captain for the new season is Dani Carvajal. The defender has been a key part of the first team and now assumes one of the leadership positions at the club.

And the role of a fourth captain is held by Toni Kroos, who completes the misfits pivot at the Santiago Bernabéu. The German international also extended his contract with the club for another year.
