The long-awaited change from Milot Rashica has gone down the wire after the latest transfer talks with Bayer Leverkusen failed as a result of late discussions between Werder and the club (H/t Fussball Transfers).
The deadline for transfers in Germany was set at 6 pm local time. The two clubs failed to make an agreement before the deadline given for the DFL and UEFA.
But officially, the transfer window is expected to close by 11 pm, October 5th. The football authorities in Germany chose to end deals from 6 pm.
Rashica was previous linked with a move to RB Leipzig and Aston Villa in the Premier League, but a deal could not fall through at the end.
For Villa, they could no longer buy Rashica as a result of his high wages which SV Werder Bremen were not willing to lower despite Villa demands.
For Leipzig, it was not the case of wages, it was all about Bremen’s initial valuation of the player, which resulted in the quick alternative in Alexander Sörloth, who signed for the Dierottenbullen for 22 million euros from Trabzonspor on loan from Crystal Palace.
Rashica is expected to remain for another campaign with Bremen before thinking of another move elsewhere. Probably to Leverkusen or away from the Bundesliga.
