Chelsea to face London rivals in pursuit of £34m rated Nicolas Jackson
Perhaps one of the best talents in the Spanish La Liga last season, Nicolas Jackson is increasingly becoming a centre of attraction in England as Chelsea wants the 21-year-old striker.
But now, their City rivals Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for the player. The Villarreal star boy was crucial to the club’s quest for European qualification last season.
According to The Sun (h/t Fichajes), Tottenham Hotspur entered the race after Chelsea declared interest in the player. The tabloid revealed that Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is pushing for the player’s signing.
But the £34m release clause in his contract makes it more interesting. Tottenham Hotspur is expected to do some shopping when the summer transfer starts and the release clause of the forward is not too expensive.
Spurs want to make some re-enforcement as it had some issues with its forward position, and the club thinks the Senegalese international would be a good fit.
Meanwhile, the Guardian, according to Fichajes, revealed Chelsea has already agreed personal terms with Jackson. But Tottenham Hotspur is exploring the possibility of getting the player. Meaning the North London club could be looking to hijack the deal.
According to statistics, last season, Nicolas Jackson scored thirteen goals and provided five assists for Villarreal.
