The competition for a place in the Premier League, a chance to play European football (UEFA Europa Conference League) via EFL Cup and more makes the Championship one of the most heavily contested football leagues.
Consisting of some of the household names in English football like Wigan Athletic, Watford, Hull City, etc., the experience of the Championship this season promises to be better.
How many teams are in the EFL Championship?
The EFL Championship 2022/23 will have a total of 24 teams (three relegated from the English Premier League and three from the EFL Championship League One.
Arguably, the EFL Championship is the best second-division football in the world in many areas and only second to German Bundesliga 2 in match day attendance. The league has continued to experience significant growth over the last couple of years.
Unlike other second-division football leagues worldwide, the EFL Championship is famously known for its Championship Playoffs Final. The winners go home with the Promotion ticket with over £100m in the bag.
That being said, the EFL Championship is an excellent experience for clubs outside the buzzing Premier League.
The 2022/23 EFL Championship season will begin on 29 July 2022 and conclude on the 6th of May 2023
