British players with the most Champions League titles
For any athlete, the feeling of taking home a trophy is unmatched. Everyone wants to win, whether it’s football players, basketball players, cyclists enjoying winning the Tour de France, or tennis players winning Wimbledon.
There have been great players throughout the history of the “beautiful game” who dominated the field but failed to win a single trophy. However, several renowned players have developed the ability to triumph under pressure and have won numerous awards throughout their careers.
Winning the Champions League, formerly known as the European Cup, is a huge achievement for any footballer playing in Europe, and several players have won this elite competition multiple times. In this article, we will find out which British football players won the most Champions League titles.
1. Gareth Bale (Real Madrid – 5 Titles)

Gareth Bale grew up in Southampton, where he went through the junior categories, and the club’s scouts noticed him when he was nine years old, and at 16 years and 275 days, in 2006, in a match against Millwall, he became the second youngest player to play for that club.
He scored his first goal on August 6, 2006, against Derby County from a free kick before changing clubs in 2007 when he moved to Tottenham for 14 million euros.

He “flourished” in that club, played 146 games, and scored 42 goals, later earning him a transfer to Real Madrid worth 101 million euros in 2013. Bale won the Champions League five times.
He would play an important role in his first season at Real Madrid, helping the club win the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in the 2013-2014 season. He went on to win the UEFA Super Cup and the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup.
Two years later, he was a key player in the second phase of the UEFA Champions League, winning the 2015–16 title and being named in the UEFA Champions League – Team of the Season. He scored the two most important goals for the club in the 2018 Champions League final in the victory against Liverpool. He made 258 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 106 goals.
2. Phil Neal (Liverpool – 4 Titles)
Years won: (1977, 1978, 1981,1984)
Phil Neal is one of the footballers with extraordinary career development as he came out from non-league side Wellingborough Town.
In 1974 he signed for Liverpool at 23 and soon became one of the best players on the team. During his time in Liverpool, he became the most decorated English player ever. He won 8 First Division titles, 4 League Cups, 5 Fa Charity Shields, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, and 4 European Cups.
3. Ray Clemence (Liverpool – 3 Titles)
Years won: (1977, 1978, 1981)
He started his career in Scunthorpe in 1965, and two years later, he was brought to Liverpool for 18,000 pounds by the famous manager of the “reds,” Bill Shankly. In 14 seasons at “Anfield,” Clemens achieved a lot – he won three European Champions Cups, five league titles, two UEFA Cup trophies, an FA Cup, and three League Cups.
An incredible fact is that Clemence missed only six matches in the 14 years he wore Liverpool’s shirt. Undoubtedly the greatest goalkeeper in Liverpool’s history.
4. Phil Thomson (Liverpool – 3 Titles)
Years won: (1977, 1978, 1981)
Another Englishman from the golden Liverpool generation dominated in the 70s and 80s. Thomson has been Liverpool’s fan since a young age, and the dream of the young boy cheering from the Kop became a reality in 1971 when he became a professional footballer for Liverpool.

He was a tough defender and was the last man in the defence. He won numerous trophies with Liverpool, including 7 First Division titles and, most important, 3 European Cups.
5. Terry McDermott (Liverpool – 3 Titles)
Years won: (1977, 1978, 1981)
McDermott was also a fan of Liverpool when he was a young boy, but he started his career in Bury before joining Newcastle. He reached the FA Cup final that season with Newcastle and lost against Liverpool 3:0. After six months. He joined his favourite club, “The Reds.”

He is one of the rare players that is loved by the fans of both teams. It’s often stated that McDermott was one of the main players in Liverpool’s team that won 3 European Cups in 1977,1978, and 1981.
