The English Premier League is gradually becoming a fortress for German football managers who’ve been able to master the English football scene with the most advanced gegenpressing style of play.

The EPL stands out as one of the biggest football leagues in the world, where quality and competition exist on and off the field.

The Popularity of football in other European countries like Germany has led to the rise in more experienced German coaches who are nowadays preferred by top European leagues, including the Premier League.

So who are the best German football managers in the English Premier League?

Jürgen Klopp became a household name when he ended Liverpool FC’s 30-year wait for the league title.

Thomas Tuchel, who was appointed halfway into the season, went on to help Chelsea the Champions League, European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Although other German coaches like Daniel Farke Felix Magath have had their own share in the league, Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are leading the German contingent in England

The arrival of Ralf Ragnick, the  football director famously known for his role at RB Leipzig further increased the Popularity of German football managers in England and the effectiveness of their tactics.

In our article, we have ranked the best German Managers in the EPL based on trophies, games and other factors like movement in the market.

Best German football managers in the Premier League

1. Jürgen Klopp

Klopp moved to Liverpool in 2015 following his successful reign at Borussia Dortmund and the living legacy in the German Bundesliga.

Although Klopp did not become one of the best in the Premier League straight away, he soon developed into one of the most tactically gifted managers in the English league.

So far, Klopp leads the list of German football managers who’s dominated the Premier League by winning major trophies, including the Premier League, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Klopp’s team has been known for its consistency and competition. And the leading factor here remains the high goal ratio per match basis.

2. Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel is the most impactful German football manager in the English Premier League and who has won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea despite moving to the side more about a quarter into the season.

Tuchel did not make significant changes to the team he met on the ground. But the unthinkable was made using the same old tactics did not seem to fit into the plans of his previous jobs.

Thomas Tuchel has won the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea since 2021.

3. Daniel Farke

Daniel Farke remains a household name in English football following the promotion ticket he won for the club twice in four years. The canaries who weren’t among the big money spenders did so well in the Championship but had less effect in the top flight.

Farke joined Norwich City in 2017 and brought significant changes to the club. The following season saw the club’s return to the Premier League.

But Norwich City’s return to the Premier League after just a year into the relationship between Norwich and Daniel Farke did not last too long following the club’s immediate relegation back to the Championship.

However, Farke secured an immediate return to the Premier League with Norwich City and was subsequently handed the EFL Championship Manager of the Season award.

4. Felix Magath

Felix Magath is one of the best German football managers ever seen. He managed a swat of clubs, including Hamburger SV, VfL Wolfsbane and Schalke 04.

In the Premier League, Felix Magath became the first German football manager to coach a Premier League club after the London club announced his appointment in 2014.

With an announcement accompanied by big expectations, Felix Magath had to work for the survival of Fulham for the following season. However, Fulham did not remain in the top flight at the end of the season with the German in charge.

5. Jan Siewert

Jan Siewert joined Huddersfield Town in 2019. He was in charge of the Premier League club until they were relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
