Bayern Munich’s €100 million offer for Harry Kane accepted by Spurs
According to German sources, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to terms for the transfer of Harry Kane.
Spurs accepted the Bundesliga team’s bid on Wednesday, which is thought to be worth more than €100 million (£86.4 million, $110 million). Bayern had three bids for Kane rejected, the first of which was in June. However, they subsequently succeeded after raising their offer.
With only one year remaining on his contract and no sign that he will extend it, Spurs believed that agreeing to a transfer was the best-case scenario.
According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, who tweeted: “EXCLUSIVE: Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Harry Kane, sources in Germany indicate.”
Since the beginning of the summer transfer season, Kane has been connected with moves away from Spurs, and it appears that one is about to happen.
Ange Postecoglou is preparing for his debut season as the Spurs manager, and Kane has already played a significant role in pre-season. But the move will hamper the Spurs’ effort to clinch a top 4 spot.
The 23/24 Premier League season for Tottenham will begin on Saturday against Brentford in a London derby.
Kane at Tottenham
Kane scored 30 Premier League goals last season for Spurs, who finished eighth and missed out on European football, while they have not won a trophy since 2008. After scoring his debut goal in December 2011, Kane made 435 appearances for Spurs and accumulated 280 goals.
He is 48 goals shy of surpassing Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record with 213 goals in 320 games.
